Once you surpass the early parts of Code Vein 2, the bosses are going to get a little crazier. If you’re following the storyline, you’ll likely meet this as your first boss in the Sunken City. It’s definitely going to prove a challenge, but here’s how to beat Mutated Survivor Bernd.

Where to Find Mutated Survivor Bernd Boss in Code Vein 2

You’ll want to follow Iris’s Request: Sunken City, which will take you from the landing spot in Sunken City through Refugee Village, Eastern Gatehouse Ruins, and then finally to Josee’s Outpost: Front Gate. As with all of these areas, there is a clear, linear path to take that will eventually get you to Josee’s Outpost: West Gate Mistle.

Once again, there will be a linear path to the boss, but you have two options once you head downstairs from the Mistle: a left or right path. The right path is the best choice, as there are only a few enemies you can easily sprint past.

There will be some turnstiles before a staircase that leads down into a boss door, and behind that, you’ll find Mutated Survivor Bernd.

Mutated Survivor Bernd Boss Strategy

I took this fight on at level 20, and had done quite a bit of exploration to collect items to level up my equipped Jail to six. I also acquired the Superbia Bloodline: Lou 3 Blood Code. While you don’t have to use that exact one, it can’t hurt to at least go into this fight with a C-ranked Blood Code.

The benefit of this fight is that Bernd doesn’t have any long-range attacks. He’ll spin his blades around, but they don’t have the extreme reach that you might expect. The best way to win this is just keep your distance and allow your partner to do some of the heavy lifting.

Whenever Bernd once again targets you, expect a leap attack where he’ll plunge the blades into the ground. This can be easily dodged, and then hit him with whatever Weapon Formae does the most damage. He doesn’t have a massive health bar, so you should be able to take sizeable chunks out of it.

As with Resurgence Abomination, the last thing you want to do is take Bernd head-on. If you get caught up in his attacks, use one of the many pillars to put space between you and heal up.

There aren’t any tough gimmicks to this fight. As long as you focus on maintaining a decent distance, you should be just fine. For winning, you get 5,500 Haze and the Stealth Blades weapon that mimics the boss’s.

Similar Boss: Alexis the Heartless Bodyguard

If you’re like me and didn’t fully explore MagMell before going to the ferry to venture out, you might find this boss much later on in the game. It is at the end of the East Bay Underground Ruins. As it is on MagMell, you can expect a much easier fight than with Bernd, but Alexis was still somewhat tough when I fought it at level 23.

The strategy above still works perfectly for Alexis. The only big difference is that there isn’t anything to hide behind. But if you have already beaten Bernd, you definitely won’t find a harder challenge.

We are working our way through Code Vein 2 like you and making sure to guide up all the bosses we come across. If you get stuck somewhere, we will have the perfect guide to get you through.
