Branden Zavaleta is the head of the snake at The Phrasemaker, editing and organising more than writing these days. Before, you might’ve read him in The AU Review, The Curb, FarEastFilms, and TheGamer, not to mention a handful of smaller arts publications. Based in Perth, tries to steer the ship towards the company motto: We make the news you want to know.
Grace Black
Games & Tech Co-Lead
A writer and digital artist from New Zealand, Grace loves fiction and storytelling. After writing in the games industry for four years, she’s racked up an impressive article count and is broadly skilled. She’s also an enthusiast of everything spooky, an occasional anime enjoyer, and a die-hard Ghost-Type Pokemon fangirl. Her favorite video games include Overwatch 2, Life is Strange, The Last of Us, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Pokemon – all of which she will never tire of.
Branden Lizardi

Humble and hardworking, it may surprise you that Branden is among the most veteran games journalists in the industry. Formerly one of the head editors at TheGamer, Branden brings his invaluable expertise to Phrasemaker. And when it comes to games, he enjoys everything from VR to Tabletop RPGs, with a soft spot for management games, farming RPGs, and silly simulators.

Tarun covers the mechanics, communities, and backend for The Phrasemaker. He’s written for just about everyone — GINX, GGRecon, DualShockers, you name it — and brings a grounded, detail-first approach to the world’s modern machinery. Based in India, slightly obsessed with numbers, he’s out go-to guy when we need to get into the nitty-gritty (or need something fixed).
