What is the Pet Companion System in Crimson Desert

The pet companion system in Crimson Desert requires you to build trust with the animals before you can turn them into pets. Similar to the regular NPCs that you greet to raise trust, you can pet the stray dogs and cats to raise trust with them.

You must raise the trust to 100 with an animal to make them your pet. Upon making an animal your pet, they will be added to the Pets category under the inventory menu.

How to Increase the Trust of Animals Effectively

Increase the trust of animals

There are two core actions to increase the trust of animals in Crimson Desert. These actions include Petting and Feeding. Every time you pet a dog or a cat, you gain +5 Trust.

You can pet an animal up to 5 times per day (in-game). It means you can get 25 Trust with an animal in a single interaction just by petting. After petting an animal until the cap, you have to wait for the next day for the Trust to count again. Sleeping is the perfect method to pass the time for up to 12 hours.

Feeding is also crucial for effectively increasing trust with an animal in Crimson Desert. To feed an animal, select and hold the use button on a food item from your inventory and take it out. After that, place the food on the ground, and the animal will eat it.

As the animal eats the food, you will earn trust from 10 to 35, depending on what you feed the animal. You can feed an animal three times a day (in-game), and every time the animal eats the food, you earn trust. Here is a list of food items and the amount of trust they earn you by feeding them to animals.

How to Get Pets in Crimson Desert

Currently, there are only two types of pets in Crimson Desert: Dogs and Cats. You can turn any stray dog or a cat into your pet by reaching 100 Trust with them. The best way to get a pet is to find a suitable animal and note down their location.

After that, start petting the animal until the 25 Trust cap. Once done, feed the animal three times a day to get the max trust within a day. Now, wait for the next day, and repeat the petting technique to get 25 Trust again. This will get you your pet within a single day of grinding.

Take in the animals

Upon reaching 100 Trust, you will get the option to “Take in” the animal. Accept this option, and the animal will officially become your pet. Moreover, your pet will roam the Greymane Camp at the Howling Hill when it is not summoned. You can have a maximum of 30 pets in your pet roster. If you want to turn another animal into a pet after having all 30, you must release one of the pets from the roster.

How to Summon Pets in Crimson Desert

To summon a pet to your location, open the Pets category under the Inventory tab and then select the pet you wish to summon. Your pet will follow you through the adventure until you unsummon it using the same procedure.

NOTE: Only 1 pet can be summoned at a time.

Where to Find Clothes for Pets in Crimson Desert

You can find clothes and outfits for pets at the Pets – Tailor’s Shop in Crimson Desert. There are a number of pet tailor’s shops, but unfortunately, there is none in Hernand Town. The earliest shop that you can come across is in Pororin Village, located southeast of Hernand Town. However, you cannot reach this village until you complete the “The Unreachable Village” quest for the Shai Children.

Once you are in Pororin Village, you can visit the pet tailor’s shop to purchase a couple of outfits and a helm for your pet.
