There are plenty of weapons to get your hands on in Crimson Desert, and the Fated Shadow stands out as one of the stronger one-handed options out there, complete with a powerful Abyss Gear. Unfortunately, this is not some weapon you can find and walk away with, as unlike the Soul Spear or Darkbringer, there is a specific point you must get to before it’s up for grabs.

If you want to see what the fuss is all about, or are simply looking for an incredibly overpowered and good-looking weapon, here’s how to get the Fated Shadow in Crimson Desert and what you can expect from it once it’s in your arsenal.

How to Get the Fated Shadow in Crimson Desert

The Nest of Valor Abyss where players can find the Fated Abyss in Crimson Desert.

Obtaining the Fated Shadow is mostly a matter of progressing through the story, and for a weapon this strong, it’s closer to the mid-to-late game sections.

More specifically, without spoiling too much of the fun, you will reach it during Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert. Here, you must overcome several trials to achieve enlightenment, and one of these has you scaling the Spire of the Sun during the Unwavering Steps quest to reach the Nest of Valor Abyss.

In this Abyss, you must defeat a particularly tough boss called Goyen, after which you can climb the stairs to the right of the arena to enter Goyen’s room and find the Fated Shadow inside. The one-handed sword also gets a bit of special treatment, as it comes with its own short cutscene when you pick it up.

How to Use the Fated Shadow in Crimson Desert

Kliff using Fated Shadow's Greysoul Howling ability in Crimson Desert.

This is not your usual one-handed weapon because, aside from the fact that it comes already refined to level 6, giving it a high attack rating of 25, the Fated Shadow is best known for its unique Abyss Gear called Greysoul Howling.

While Greysoul Howling is intrinsic to the Fated Shadow, it is still an Abyss Gear, which means it can be detached and embedded into another weapon. When you hold RB + RT with the weapon equipped, you conjure the ghost of Goyen, which unleashes a sweeping strike on enemies.

This works extremely well with other Abyss Gears of a similar nature, such as Spirit Judgement, as they stack together to deal a high amount of damage.

Given that you can continue to upgrade the sword, you can comfortably rely on it throughout the remaining chapters, as its damage output does not fall off.
