Crane Puzzle (Extract the Buried Relic) in Crimson Desert is part of the Sealed in Stone faction quest for House Roberts, which is the fourth quest in that chain, following the Stolen Quarry quest, where you defeat Marni’s Excavatron boss.
After completing prior steps in the quarry area near Karin Quarry, speak to Erich at the objective marker. He gives you the Control Room Key and tasks you with operating the crane to extract a massive buried relic. This guide will provide you with every step on the way to solving this puzzle in Crimson Desert.
Enter the Control Room

To reach the control room, you need to head to the nearby elevator marked on your map, which is close to Erich. Interact with the handwheel on the lift and turn the wheel to ride the elevator up to the control room. Then, follow these steps:
- Use the Control Room Key to open the door.
- Inside, approach and interact with the crane control wheel by the window to take control of the crane.
- Use the D-Pad on consoles or the arrow keys on PC to move the crane hook left or right and forward or back.
Correct Position to Grab the Relic

The buried relic is a large stone block embedded in the pit directly below the crane, which is roughly in the center of the visible area from the control room. Here’s how to grab it:
- Position the crane hook so it hovers directly above the gray cube.
- Lower the claw slowly over the relic.
- Note that the claw has multiple prongs, so position it in such a way that one side clamps down first on one edge of the cube.
- Move slowly, and when correctly aligned, the claw will automatically grab the relic.
- You should hear a loud mechanical sound that confirms the grab.
Note that the claw won’t grab if it’s not centered properly over the cube. Use camera adjustments to get a better top-down view. If it doesn’t attach, raise the hook slightly, reposition, and try again.
Extract the Buried Relic

Once you securely attach the claw, press up on the D-Pad repeatedly or W on the keyboard to keep lifting the relic steadily. The relic will shake and resist at first, but continue holding and lifting it up. It will eventually break free from the ground and lift off. Do this slowly to avoid excessive swinging. If it swings too much, just stop, let it stabilize, and resume.
As a result, you’ll be able to complete the “Extract the Buried Relic” objective and finish the Sealed in Stone faction quest. On top of that, removing the relic creates a hole in the ground, where you can drop down afterward into a hidden area for extra loot:
- 3x Palmer Pills
- 1x Treasure Chest
