Darkhaven is an in-development action RPG made by some of the original developers of Diablo 1 and 2. Their involvement and experience with such generational titles have drawn a lot of attention to their upcoming project.
The devs started this project under their new studio, Moon Beast Productions, and launched a Kickstarter campaign in February 2026 with a $500,000 funding goal. While it met the goal in time, at least $65,000 of it has been confirmed as fake, per a recent dev update.
Insincere Pledges

According to Moon Beast Productions, one of the backers pledged several times to reach the goal with no intentions of actually supporting.
This has led the devs to make a tough decision of either refunding the entire amount and potentially relaunching the campaign several months later, or keeping the sincere pledges and working with what they have.
Fake pledges are not uncommon on Kickstarter, and it is truly disheartening to see a project of such passion suffering its consequences. However, fans are supporting the devs and have shared their thoughts on how they would love to see the devs progress further.
Fans Want the Devs to Keep Funds

There are almost a hundred comments under the dev update, and almost all unanimously agree that the devs should keep the funds instead of relaunching the campaign.
It makes sense because the current campaign had a lot of resources invested, both in time and marketing, and going through the ordeal again could potentially affect Darkhaven’s development cycle.
Moon Beast Productions is not unfamiliar with such processes; in fact, it previously achieved $4.5 million in seed funding in late 2024. Still, the devs have laid out their options and have yet to give their verdict on what the next step would be.

Kickstarter uses an “all-or-nothing” model, where if a project fails to meet its goal, backers are not charged because the creator doesn’t have enough funds to finish it. The situation is complicated this time, and Kickstarter seems to have made an exception for Darkhaven.
It all depends on Moon Beast Productions now to evaluate whether they can work with the current funds or have another go at getting more support from fans. Regardless, the devs have already said previously that they will deliver the project with or without this Kickstarter.
We will update this article once there is another announcement.
Darkhaven is gearing up to bring a lot more to the ARPG genre with its dynamic worlds and player-centered approach. The devs did it before with the classic Diablo games, and they are certainly capable of doing it again.
