Aaron Pierre is set to debut as John Stewart alongside Kyle Chandler, who will play Hal Jordan, in Lanterns, an upcoming superhero series arriving in August 2026. However, his turn as the Green Lantern will not be limited to the TV show, as the actor has now joined the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, where he will reprise his role as John Stewart.

Pierre will be joining an already stacked cast, which includes David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Frank Grillo, Isabela Merced, María Gabriela de Faría, and Sara Sampaio, who will be reprising their roles from the first movie.

Aaron Pierre Will Not Be the Only New Face in Man Of Tomorrow

The upcoming DC Studios sequel, which will be directed by James Gunn, will also star Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, the primary antagonist of the film. Man of Tomorrow will reportedly see David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor team up to fight Brainiac, a technological alien threat. This team-up says a lot about just how serious a threat Brainiac is, given where the first film left Superman and Lex; the fact that they’re willing to work together speaks volumes.

While it remains to be seen how Pierre’s character will factor into Man of Tomorrow’s big picture, the inclusion of Brainiac, an alien threat, and John Stewart being part of an intergalactic corps suggests his role may potentially operate on a bigger, cosmic scale.

When Will the Superman Sequel, Man of Tomorrow, Be Released?

David Corenswet as Superman

Man of Tomorrow is currently set to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027. The sequel will definitely have significant competition at the box office; the beloved horror franchise sequel, A Quiet Place Part III, and a follow-up to the mega-successful Minecraft will also arrive in theaters in July 2027. This comes as no surprise as summer is always packed with the biggest movies of the year. With a crowded release window ahead, the film’s success will depend not just on scale, but on how strongly it stands out in an already stacked summer lineup.

Man of Tomorrow is part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters and apart from Superman, it will also be preceded by Supergirl and Clayface on the big screen. Following Man of Tomorrow, the other movies that will be included in the Gods and Monsters chapter will include The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and a Wonder Woman film that is currently untitled. The four movies currently set to follow Man of Tomorrow are still in the development stage; it would be interesting to see what influence the movie will have on its successors, if any.
