With the return of some supporting characters in Invincible Season 4, such as Allen and Damien Darkblood, we also see another character returning to the chaos of events of the series, Riley.
To most viewers, Riley is just a supporting character. She might even be considered a background character due to her minimal lines and part in the series. However, with Riley coming back in Invincible Season 4 Episode 4, the showrunners seem to be planning to make her a bigger role in future episodes.
Curious about Riley’s comeback in Invincible Season 4? Well, you’ve come to the right place as we’ll detail her return right here.
Who is Riley in Invincible?

We first meet Riley in the Season 2 finale of Invincible; a last-minute addition to the series. She, alongside her girlfriend, Jane, rediscover Ka-Hor’s temple where they enter and investigate. Riley is known to have limited enhanced strength and survival abilities due to her lineage from her maternal grandmother’s side.

The duo then finds Zaeim’s corpse, and Ka-Hor comes back to life, intending to be resurrected through a human host. However, Ka-Hor’s plans don’t come into fruition as he needs a male body to be resurrected. This leads to Jane and Riley appearing insulted by Ka-Hor’s comments.

Later on, Jane, Riley, and Ka-Hor, hear a large rumble outside of the temple, which was Mark Grayson as Invincible flying through Egypt, causing a sandstorm that traps the trio within the temple.
Months later, during the Invincible War, Riley and Jane finally leave the temple, with Ka-Hor exclaiming how he was happy to be rid of the two. This leads to a continuous running gag of Ka-Hor’s character, wherein he’s awakened in his tomb but is unable to leave or is stopped from doing so.
How Does Riley Come Back in Invincible Season 4?

In the latest episode of Invincible Season 4, Riley supposedly teams up with Mark to stop Ka-Hor once again. However, Mark is summoned by Damien Darkblood to hell, leaving Riley to deal with Ka-Hor on her own.
As we’d usually expect Ka-Hor’s plans of resurrection to fail, this episode takes a turn. Ka-Hor is frustrated by the failed attempts to resurrect him through a male host body and decides to possess Riley.

With Ka-Hor possessing Riley, he then climbs out of the tomb and plans to finish what he started—fully returning to power and unleashing chaos. This sets in stone that Ka-Hor may finally become a bigger antagonist than we’d anticipate him to be in the future storyline of this season.

Riley’s Future in the Series

With Riley currently possessed by Ka-Hor, we know that Ka-Hor will begin his reign of terror now that his powers and abilities have been restored. But, in terms of saving Riley from this possession? Only time will tell if she can be saved, especially if things go awry. This also potentially forces Mark to make another difficult decision after killing Rus from the sequids.
What makes this situation even more unsettling is how different it feels from past threats. We’ve usually seen Ka-Hor in a comedic light, but this time, it’s more serious. Riley seems to have become central to Ka-Hor’s survival, which raises the stakes of any attempts to stop him.
At the same time, Invincible, however, leaves some room for redemption and reversal, also giving a sliver of a chance that Riley’s fate may not be sealed just yet. There’s still a chance of Riley breaking free from Ka-Hor. But we’ll just have to see what the future episodes of Invincible Season 4 will hold.
