After what feels like forever of waiting for a glimpse at the new Harry Potter series on HBO Max, fans have finally gotten a taste of what’s to come, with more in store.

The Harry Potter Instagram page posted a single picture on March 24 of Harry Potter in his Quidditch robes, walking up to the Quidditch pitch. The post’s caption simply said “Tomorrow,” with a lightning bolt emoji right behind it. Whether that means fans can expect a full trailer, a teaser or just more images of the cast in costume is still unclear.

What is HBO Going to Announce?

With the series set to debut in 2027, there’s still a long way to go before fans can expect to see or hear anything of great substance. However, given the image of Harry in his Quidditch robes, it’s fair to assume that people might get to see the Boy Who Lived thoroughly embracing his role as the Gryffindor Seeker.

The reveal may also show a bit more of what the castle will look like. The image showed a blurred background that appears to be the outside of the Quidditch pitch, so maybe fans will get a look at some of the other important set pieces from the books.

Given the series aims to take a different look at the story than the films, it makes sense that Hogwarts itself might look a bit different. However, that’s one thing that actually might not change much. Given the prominence of the Hogwarts Castle replica at places like Universal Studios in Florida, Warner Bros. might not want to venture too far from the franchise’s established iconography.

Fans might also get a closer look at some of the cast, though it’s not likely that they’ll speak any dialogue. The reveal is more likely to be a teaser than a full-on trailer, so the level of detail might be rather minimal. Still, there’s sure to be plenty to try and uncover just from the small glimpse, so fans may have their hands full until the next piece of content is shown.

What Is Known About the Harry Potter Reboot?

While there’s still not much that’s clear about the series, some details have been made public, such as the fact that Hans Zimmer will be composing the score. Much of the cast has been announced, with more names being added every few weeks. The main cast has been set in stone, with Dominick McLaughlin starring as Harry Potter himself, Arabella Stanton playing Hermione Granger and Alistair Stout playing Ron Weasley.

As for the rest of the cast, certain characters are being worked out as they come up in the show, but the bigger supporting characters have been cast for a while now. John Lithgow will play the famous headmaster, Albus Dumbledore; Paapa Essiedu will portray the gloomy Professor Snape; and Janet McTeer will hold down the castle as Deputy Headmistress and head of Gryffindor house, Minerva McGonagall.

We also know that the series will be a bit more faithful to the books than the films, mainly because of its planned length. It was described as being a “decade-long series,” so with only seven years in a student’s time at Hogwarts, the show will likely spend extra time on some of the longer books, like Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. This point is furthered by the reveal that the first season’s runtime will be eight hours, so there should be plenty of content that can fit in that time over the whole series.

While there’s plenty of room for speculation, some answers will be given when HBO does release whatever it’s planning on March 25.
