Invincible Season 4 brings us back to Mark Grayson’s chaotic world. However, we see Invincible in a new light and a different look with his robot limbs throughout the first episode of the new season.

If you follow the Invincible comics or any comics at all, you’ll find out that heroes often have different costume changes, hairstyles, and alternate universes. But with Mark’s robot limbs, they’re hardly just an accessory. With that, we’ll be explaining Mark’s robot limbs in Invincible Season 4 below.

Mark’s Robot Limbs Came From His Fight with Conquest in Invincible Season 3

First off, you need to have some context on how Mark got his robot limbs. Going back to the seventh episode of Invincible Season 3, you can recall that the world has just been fresh out of the attack from Angstrom Levy and the Invincible variants.

While everyone is rebuilding, the Viltrumite envoy named Conquest has arrived on Earth to check on Mark’s subjugation of Earth in preparation for the Viltrum Empire’s invasion.

Upon meeting Mark, Conquest is disappointed and enraged by Mark’s lack of progress. Pile that on with Mark’s devastation over the destruction and deaths around him, and he then charges at Conquest and begins their battle, which continues through episode 8, Invincible Season 3’s finale.

As the battle ensues, Conquest and Mark fight with Oliver and Eve attempting to intervene, but both are injured. At one point, Mark’s limbs get brutally snapped, handicapping him further in the fight, leaving Eve to defend Mark and herself. This moment shows how Mark’s limbs are gravely injured, setting him up for his “robot limbs.” In its entirety, this sequence is quite a desperate situation for our heroes.

Then, when Eve allows herself to overcome her mental blocks and reach a higher plane with her powers when Conquest seemingly kills her, she’s able to burn off Conquest’s skin, with Mark also seeming to kill him. After the battle, Mark awakens at the hospital, his limbs padded for healing.

Mark Debuts His Robot Limbs in Invincible Season 4 Episode 1

With the first episode of season 4, Mark, alongside the other heroes, continue to stop threats all over the world while dealing with the physical and mental aftermath of Angstrom Levy and Conquest. Here, we see Mark battling with his robot limbs, which are copper-colored and seem to replace his human limbs, fighting quite seamlessly with them.

The robot limbs seem to be created by the Global Defense Agency to aid Mark in his recovery while still allowing him to continue hero work. This is because Mark’s body was gravely damaged, so the limbs perhaps help him to keep up physically during battles and missions.

Mark eventually encounters the villain Dinosaurus and fights him. We later find Dinosaurus tearing off one of Mark’s robot limbs the latter feels that his limbs are fully healed.

Mark then tears off all of his robot limbs and fights Dinosaurus in his fully healed state.

While it was a short debut, Mark’s robot limbs are certainly just a temporary costume change to his iconic outfit. Aside from that, we see how Invincible, as a character, has gone through quite an emotional and intense arc, especially with how Conquest damaged our hero.
