There are six types of weapons in Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, such as great sword and long sword that deal slash damage, hammer and hunting horn that deal blunt damage, and bow and gunlance that deal piercing damage.
Each type has a number of individual weapons tied to various monsters in the game. This guide will provide you with a list of the best weapons of each type, including tips on how to get them in MHS3.
Veldian Gladius

Veldian Gladius is one of the strongest great swords for Dragon builds, with excellent charged attacks and three decoration slots that let you customize skills like Charge Burst. Here’s how to get it:
- You need to defeat an Arkveld monster at least once in Dragonreach Mountain or Ashen Pass.
- Arkveld absorbs elements and builds Wyvernsoul gauge, so use non-elemental damage weapons.
- You can also exploit its weaknesses, so bring monsties like Rathalos or Deviljho.
- Forge and upgrade this great sword at any smithy using the Akrveld materials.
Duke’s Sinclair

Duke’s Sinclair is one of the best long swords due to its massive Dragon damage output, solid Wyvernfell for spirit combos and kinship buildup, and decoration slots. It pairs perfectly with Malzeno monsties, making it unparalleled for Dragon builds.
- You must defeat the Malzeno monster at one of these locations: Dragonreach Mountain, Ashen Pass, or Death’s Maw.
- Prepare with Dragon or Fire counters, high blight resistance, and monsties like Rathalos.
- Malzeno builds Qurio blood orb attacks and inflicts heavy blight, so use Flash Bombs, evasion skills, and focus on aggressive play.
Azure Elder Hammer

As the top hammer in the game, it crushes with raw Dragon power and heavy blunt damage. It outdamages most alternatives in the late stages of the game, despite having just one decoration slot.
- Here, you need to defeat Wind Serpent Ibushi, which is often paired with Thunder Serpent Narwa.
- Bring high-defense setups and monsties of either Dragon, Thunder, or Fire types.
- Ibushi and Narwa are considered the hardest bosses in the game, so you’ll need high kinship for burst damage.
Duke’s Grail

Duke’s Grail ranks among the best hunting horns for Dragon builds, having massive damage, sustain via Blood Moon Melody, and Dragon buffs from Wyrmslayer. It’s a top-tier choice alongside Azure Elder Horn for blunt users.
Just like Duke’s Sinclair, you need to face the Malzeno monster to get the parts for Duke’s Grail.
Thunderbolt Bow

Thunderbolt Bow deals the highest raw Thunder damage among all other bows in the game, and it has unique coatings, such as Paralysis Coating, Sleep Coating, and Flash Coating, that are perfect for applying powerful status effects to lock down enemies.
- This time, you need to defeat Thunder Serpent Narwa in the duo boss fight with Wind Serpent Ibushi.
- Narwa is weak to Fire and Dragon types, and be sure to focus on part breaks like horns, wings, tail, and tentacles.
Veldian Hasta

Veldian Hasta is massive for its Wyvern’s Fire bursts and shelling combos, with three decoration slots. Still, it’s the weakest of all the weapons listed in this guide, so use it only if you’re looking for the gun lance build.
Just like Veldian Gladius, you must defeat the Arkveld monster to obtain materials for Veldian Hasta.
