How to Start or Join a Multiplayer Mode in Slay the Spire 2

The multiplayer mode is available right from the beginning of the game. You have the freedom to host or join a multiplayer game as your first game of Slay the Spire 2, although it is not recommended. To start or join a multiplayer game, select the “Multiplayer” option on the main menu. It will show you two options here: Host and Join. If you are creating a multiplayer game, then select the Host option; otherwise, select the Join option. The Host will get to choose the “Standard” mode, as it is the only one available in the Early Access.

After that, you will get to choose the character you want to use in the run. Moreover, if you look at the top left of the screen, you can “invite” friends to the game.
NOTE: Up to 4 players can join a run (1 Host and 3 Joiners).
As all of your friends get into the lobby, they can all select the character they want to play before proceeding into the match. Every player can choose any character. You can have 4 Ironclads for the run if you want.
Multiplayer Mode Mechanics in Slay the Spire 2

The overall gameplay loop and core mechanics are the same in multiplayer as in the single-player mode. However, there are plenty of tweaks and changes you will get to experience while playing the co-op multiplayer.
- The enemy health pool is larger, depending on the number of players.
- In addition to a bigger health pool, the enemies’ damage scales up as well.
- The enemy does not target individuals, but all players at once.
- You and your friends can draw on the map to suggest a route for the Act.
- Every player receives unique battle rewards.
- Every player has a unique Merchant inventory.
- If you visit a chest, you and your friends have to decide on who keeps the relic.
- All players can view each other’s decks and relics.
- While visiting a campsite, players can rest and upgrade, and one player can give healing to another player.
- There are multiplayer-exclusive cards that are greatly effective in co-op runs.
- The game will continue if a player from the group dies.
- The game ends when all players die.
In addition to the mechanics of the co-op mode, you and your friends must create a strong synergy among the characters to tackle the battles. You and your friends will make progress in the Compendium and unlock Epochs, like in the regular single-player mode.
