Due to changes with the law in Brazil, gamers under the age of 18 will now find themselves prohibited from playing various Riot games titles. This includes League of Legends, the recent fighter, 2XKO, Teamfight Tactics, and more.
As a result, players within this age range may find their accounts put on a ‘pause’, preventing further access. Here’s a closer look at the news and additional information regarding the parental features and age verification process.
New Law in Brazil Prevents Underage Gamers From Playing Most of Their Favorite Riot Titles

Gamers who enjoy Riot titles may now find that they need to prove their age through a verification system. If you’re underage, you will need to have a parent or guardian complete this process on your behalf. Following this, they will then be able to guide online play through the Parent Portal feature.
However, due to changes in Brazil’s ECA Digital Act, minors are unable to play games with a rating of 18+ even with parental approval. This affects some of Riot’s most popular titles, such as League of Legends, which now has a rating of 18+.

Here is a complete list of every game that has been affected, and is now prohibited:
- League of Legends
- 2XKO
- Wild Rift
- Teamfight Tactics
- Legends of Runeterra
However, Riot has stated that if players go through the parental approval process now, they will be granted immediate access ‘once these games go back to their previous rating’ – in other words, once they are changed from 18+.
Right now, the only Riot game that is not currently listed as 18+, and is therefore okay for minors to play with parental permission, is VALORANT. As for when the other games may be updated with new ratings, Riot has stated that there is a chance this may occur in 2027.
Players who do not meet the new requirements for being able to play these games may find their account put on a ‘Pause’ status by Riot.

This does not mean your account will be deleted, though. Rather, it’s being put on a safe pending status until you either reach 18 years of age or the rating of the games is changed.
If this message appears on your account, there are two possible reasons. Either Riot has determined you to be underage, and you will need to go through verification to prove otherwise, or a parent/guardian has completed the verification process and disabled your access to the game through the parental permission options on their account.
If you are having unexpected issues through these new changes, Riot has advised that you can reach out for support through their Tickets system. When doing so, you’ll need to ensure you select ‘Brazil Age Restriction & Account Access‘ from the list of options in order to make sure it ends up in the right place.
