The second act of Slay the Spire 2 is often the most difficult because of the difficulty spike and commitment to certain archetypes. One of the bosses that waits at the end of this perilous acts is Knowledge Demon.
To put it simply, Knowledge Demon is painful, and the entire reason is that it gives the players a choice between debuffs… all of which are unpleasant. Lucky for you, we have made this Knowledge Demon boss guide to help you with just that.

Attack Pattern

The fight with Knowledge Demon revolves around the debuffs and how you handle yourself while at a disadvantage. Thankfully, you can prepare early for this early on and make it easier.
Turn 1

For the first turn, Knowledge Demon will force you to choose between two debuffs, Disentegration and Mind Rot. This will always be the case.
Disentegration will deal 6 damage at the end of each turn, whereas Mind Rot will decrease your draw cards by 1. You may choose whatever your cards can handle.
If you have good enough block regeneration to negate Disintegration and the boss attacks, you should go for that. But if your build revolves around drawing extra cards, you might not even notice Mind Rot.
Turn 2

The Knowledge Demon will inflict around 17 damage. It’s one of the easier turns because you can not only block the incoming damage, but also do some of your own attacks.
Turn 3

During the third turn, Knowledge Demon will do three instances of 8 damage. If you have Disentegration, you need a good amount of block to go unscathed.
There is no need to go on the offense here as it can make your fight difficult later on. Inflicting Weak or having Thorns would be ideal to reduce the impact or to deal some damage back.
Turn 4

The final hit of the first rotation. Knowledge Demon deals over 10 damage, heals some of its health, and permanently buffs itself with 2 Strength.
The buff combined with more status cards will make this fight worse the longer it goes.
Changes In Second Rotation

Unlike the first time, there will be more possible status cards. Sap, which lowers your max Energy, and Sloth, which limits you to use three cards a turn.
As you would guess, prolonging the fight with the other status cards will be rough. We recommend tanking certain hits and going full aggressive whenever possible before it goes in the next rotation.
Letting the boss overwhelm you with its gimmicks is one of the key reasons why many players fail to progress to the next Act.

Once you have dealt with the Knowledge Demon, you will move on to the final act. Your build at this point should be pretty strong, but the encounter with the next Ancient will be crucial, so choose wisely.
