Slay the Spire 2 is riddled with annoying bosses, and the Doormaker is certainly one of them. Nobody likes a foe who keeps running away, but we have to deal with it.

Here is a complete Doormaker boss guide to help you understand its patterns and how to defeat it before it overwhelms you.

Attack Pattern

The Doormaker is an aggressive and very annoying boss. The entire fight revolves around a set phase pattern instead of turns.

You have to take down the Door to get a few attack windows against the Doormaker before it vanishes, leaving you to fight the Door again.

It’s not only annoying for that mechanic, but also due to the heavy hits that the boss deals in each turn.

Phase 1

You will encounter the Door, which has 155 HP. Each turn, it will deal upwards of 20 damage and buff itself for 3 Strength on the third turn. If you don’t deal with it fast enough, its attacks will deal over 30 damage each turn.

We found great success with the Silent and Regent here. Cards like Reflect, which give a lot of block and have offensive capabilities, will be great during the fight.

Otherwise, you will have to resort to managing your Energy in a way that blocks while dealing good damage.

Phase 2

Once you take down the Door, the Doormaker will appear, stunned for a turn. This will be your biggest attack window where you can go full offensive.

On its second and third turns, the Doormaker will deal over 30 damage and flee at the end. Before fleeing, it will also buff itself with 3 Strength. Unfortunately, you must block its attacks and tank what you can because these are also your attack window.

Rinse & Repeat

Once the Doormaker flees, the Door will appear again at full health. The cycle will continue, but this time the Door starts with 3 Strength, making the heavy hits even worse.

The strategy will remain the same, and you just have to chip away at this door, all while avoiding big hits. You have to defeat it again for the Doormaker to appear.

If you are running the Silent with a poison build, you will be happy to hear that the poison stacks from the Doormaker fight will carry over when it reappears.

If its health was lowered significantly in the previous encounter, the stun window should be enough to deal with it.

Even if you can’t, you have the next turn to beat it before it gets you. If this continues, it will be a huge problem, since the Doormaker will now have 5 Strength for each turn.

The Doormaker will be the final threat in your journey, so if you have any potions, use them. It doesn’t matter if you finish the fight at 1 HP or 100, so tank some hits that are worth it

Congratulations, you now know how to deal with one of the final bosses in Slay the Spire 2. If you want to learn how to use the new characters, check our complete Regent guide.
