All Pokemon, Where to Find Them, & How to Evolve
In Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, there are thee special evolution methods – trade evolutions, stone evolutions, and friendship evolutions.
Trade evolutions are triggered through trading your Pokemon to either another IRL player or in-game trader NPC. Upon being traded, they will evolve. Of course, you’ll need to trade back with that friend if you wish to own the newly-evolved monster, and this option is unavailable with trade NPCS.
Some trade evolutions also require the Pokemon to be traded while holding a specific item in order for the evolution to actually trigger. A note of any required hold items has been made on the list below to ensure your trade process goes as smoothly as possible.
Stone evolutions require obtaining various evolution stones such as Fire Stone, Water Stone, Thunder Stone etc, and using them on an eligible Pokemon to trigger the evolution process.
Friendship evolutions require you to raise max friendship with a Pokemon before it can evolve. Ways of raising friendship include:
- Leveling up that Pokemon
- Never allow the Pokemon to faint, as fainting decreases friendship
- Walk large distances with that Pokemon in your party
- Visit Daisy Oak
- Use stat-boosting items such as Iron, Calcium, Zinc, etc. (but avoid items such as Bitter Herb and Energy Root)
- Use Soothe Bell
- Use Luxury Balls
