One of the many things LEGO games do right is adapt beloved franchises into some of the most fun experiences you can have. They are lighthearted, nostalgia-invoking, and even timeless, and it is criminal how underrated they are.

When it comes to the best, LEGO games vary significantly from person to person based on what they played or experienced as kids. So, here is our take on the 10 best LEGO games that you should play at least once in your life.

10. LEGO Racers

Racers is the definition of nostalgia when it comes to LEGO games, and it has surprisingly aged very well. Being able to customize your cars, getting frustrated through the process, and enjoying every second of it by the end, not many games can make you feel like that.

If you haven’t played this gem yet, we highly recommend the PC version, though the download process might get really tedious.

9. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

This might raise a few eyebrows, but having The Skywalker Saga this low in the list does not mean it’s not as fun compared to others. If anything, it has a lot more content than most LEGO games, and is one of the best modern games you can play.

One of the few complaints, however, is the shorter, less impactful level design. Apart from that, it has an extremely fun open world.

8. LEGO The Lord of the Rings

It’s such a shame that The Lord of the Rings isn’t available on current consoles, because it’s a perfect LEGO adaptation. It has the humor to make it accessible to even children, and does a great job of capturing everything that makes TLOTR so good.

The game does have its fair share of bugs and glitches, which is why it’s not higher on this list, but it’s very enjoyable nonetheless.

7. LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

If you love Indiana Jones, then this could end up as your favorite LEGO game of all time. Its level design still holds up today, and the mechanics are so much fun. The soundtrack is also very enjoyable.

Even though there is a lot of nostalgia surrounding the game, the short length allows you to enjoy it even beyond your first playthrough.

6. LEGO Marvel’s Avengers

When it comes to LEGO Marvel titles, Avengers is either a game that players believe is worse than Batman and Super Heroes or the best there is. Sure, the nostalgia carries some of that, but the game does have its moments.

The visuals are really nice, and combat feels exciting. Having to properly utilize the character powers for puzzles is definitely one of its best-selling points.

5. LEGO Batman Trilogy

We put the entire trilogy here because it’s difficult to pinpoint which is the best of the three. The first game is better in many ways, and the second has a large, fun open world, whereas the third title simply has a lot more fun characters.

The point is, if you want to play Batman, just go through the entire series because you will not regret it. Our personal favorite is the first game, but you cannot undermine the greatness of subsequent titles.

4. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga

Star Wars: The Complete Saga is one of the classics in the LEGO gaming world. While modern players do enjoy The Skywalker Saga for its graphics and exploration, The Complete Saga has a straightforward level design and pacing that you simply cannot hate.

It has less content than TSS and feels more like a LEGO game than it does a Star Wars game, but that’s also one of the reasons why it has done such a great job as a foundation for modern titles.

3. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

Marvel Super Heroes 1 and 2 are both considered some of the best Marvel games out there. The first one features more characters, like the X-Men and Fox characters, each with cool designs and an overall great story.

However, the sequel takes the cake when it comes to gameplay. We would still give this to the first game simply because it has a lot more to offer and remains the best LEGO Marvel game that you can play.

2. LEGO DC Super-Villains

DC Super-Villains is the perfect culmination of features and mechanics that many other top-rated LEGO games have. The character roster here is so fun to play, and the story is well-written.

It is a spin-off of the LEGO Batman series, so if you enjoyed those, you will definitely love this, and probably even more. Many players turn away at the price tag, but you can sometimes find it on sale or even on eBay for cheaper.

1. LEGO City Undercover

City Undercover is our best LEGO game of all time, and it has one of the best open worlds for co-op. Chase McCain is a perfect main character for this game, and he’s someone you will instantly love playing as.

City Undercover is packed with action crime show tropes, so if you grew up watching those, you will appreciate the writing and dialogue even more. All in all, it is lighthearted and something you enjoy even more with friends or your kids.

Honorable Mentions

  • LEGO Islands
  • LEGO Jurassic World
  • LEGO Dimensions
  • LEGO Bionicle Heroes
  • LEGO Battles
  • LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4
  • LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean

There will definitely be titles that you may not agree with on this list, but that’s the beauty of LEGO games. Sometimes, the love for a specific franchise is more than enough to instantly make a game the best there is for someone.

Regardless, all of these titles are great, and you should definitely give them a try if you haven’t already. Also, do let us know your 10 best LEGO games!
