The 6.4 Stygian Onslaught just went live, and the bosses are annoying as always. Each boss fight requires certain characters and elements to make things easy, but not everyone has them.

We went ahead and did some quick testing against these bosses with both premium and 1-cost teams to guide you on how you can beat them.

These were done at Menacing difficulty, with all 5-star characters at 0 constellations and equipped with 4-star weapons.

First Boss – Hexadecatonic Mandragora

Mandragora is a Varka/Durin/Venti shill boss. It requires you to apply Pyro/Electro during its initial phase, after which it summons around 10 spores. They are scattered and can easily be tossed around, meaning you need a reliable grouper like Venti or Sucrose.

You have a limited time to deal with the spores. Once you do that, you will finally get your attack window where you have to deal as much damage as possible.

The attack window is very short, so it is advisable that you start your setup optimally while dealing with the spores. Rinse and repeat.

Alternative 1-Cost Team

We consider our Varesa overload team used here as premium, as it contains only one 4-star. Aside from that, we tested with a 1-cost Flins team, and the results were 3 seconds better.

So, if you have Varesa and Furina, you could leave this boss to Flins and let them deal with Knuckle Duckle.

Second Boss – Knuckle Duckle

Knuckle Duckle is a Flins/Bineffa shill boss. At the start of the battle, it summons a bunch of mini-duckies that you must deal with using electro-charge or lunar-charge.

After beating them, Knuckle Duckle is stunned for a short period, during which you can deal your damage. Since it moves around a lot, Ineffa’s shield comes in very handy.

Alternative 1-Cost Team

As we mentioned earlier, just having Furina and Varesa with a properly built Iansan is more than enough here.

We kept an underleveled Barbara here as the 4-star due to her healing, which enables Furina’s massive buffs. She also carries TTDS for Varesa and enables Hydro resonance for Furina.

Third Boss – Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device

The Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device is making a comeback after traumatizing players in the first-ever Stygian Onslaught. It is a Skirk/Escoffier shill boss, and unfortunately, there aren’t many alternative options to this boss.

It requires a lot of cryo application, meaning you will have to opt for a cryo main DPS. It also has a ton of health, and older cryo DPS can feel lacklustre.

Alternative 1-Cost Team

This boss gets significantly easier with Skirk if you have Escoffier. Your other two slots can be Kaeya and Xingqiu. However, we tested with Citlali TTDS for the ATK buff and barely managed to finish it.

Our rotations were suboptimal to keep it realistic for everyone, so you might have an easier time if you can do rotations well.

How to Beat Stygian Onslaught at Higher Difficulties

Completing Stygian Onslaught at Menacing difficulty with decent teams is a great accomplishment for many players. But if you wish to get the rewards for Fearless and higher, you will struggle a lot without the premium and recommended teams.

Even then, having suboptimal rotations and unlucky enemy patterns can ruin your runs. As such, we advise you to first defeat the bosses at Menacing and then try out different teams and synergies for Fearless.

Stygian Onslaught is the most difficult endgame content in Genshin Impact right now. Therefore, the bosses have very restricted team options to force the player to spend on new characters and weapons.

Note: The 1-cost teams could not finish the Fearless difficulty as expected, but it might be possible with more optimal team variations and rotations!
