Insomniac recently revealed its release date for their Wolverine game, which we are all looking forward to. Insomniac has a great reputation with previous Marvel games, such as the Spider-Man ones, which have received critical acclaim.

So, we can only ask, who should get their own game next?

Daredevil

Fans have wanted a Daredevil game for around two decades now, and we have been teased endlessly with it. While there are complications in how one could play a game where the main character is blind, there are most certainly ways to work around that.

Imagine an open-world game set in Hell’s Kitchen, as the aesthetic is perfect for a darker story. Add in playing Matt Murdock being a lawyer, which could create really fun quests and side-quests alongside him also being Daredevil.

Not to mention the other characters that could be in this game. Like, bringing back Kingpin from Spider-Man, and adding in Elektra and Bullseye would be beautiful. Not to mention, the idea of DLC adding in The Punisher, who would be fantastic opposite Daredevil.

Black Widow

Playing as the one and only Natasha Romanoff is the dream of many, many people. This could be a beautiful game about espionage, deceit, and seduction, which would most likely put this game on the serious side, especially if it goes in-depth about her backstory.

While I don’t think this game would be open world, I can see it being like Hitman (or other games like it), where Natasha would travel through multiple different large locations throughout the story’s progression.

There are many options for characters who could appear, probably only briefly. But, there is the opportunity of having two DLCs, one in which she teams up with Bucky (the Winter Soldier) and Clint (Hawkeye). The other, perhaps adding in Yelena as a side-antagonist.

Kitty Pryde

Since we’re getting Wolverine, that certainly increases the chances of another Mutant getting their own game. And who better to have a solo game than Kitty Pryde? She may not be as renowned as Wolverine, but she’s a fan favourite out of the X-Men either way.

While there are a lot of aspects of Kitty’s life that this game could be about, I believe setting it in the Marauder era would be the best choice. Putting a pirate twist on superhero games that hasn’t been done before, as far as I know.

This could make for a wonderful adventure game, also potentially including the other members of the Marauders, such as Iceman, Storm, Pyro, and/or Bishop. For this game’s DLC, I don’t believe it should add more characters, but instead add a whole new adventure for the crew to go on. (Possibly in space.)

The Hulk

Who hasn’t wanted to play a game where you’re a big monster smashing things? No one, and as such, The Hulk is perfect for a future Insomniac game. And smashing doesn’t mean it won’t also have an amazingly compelling storyline as well.

Bruce Banner has one hell of a story to tell, with the game possibly showcasing the struggles of his two identities. He’s been hunted by the government, sent into exile on another planet, and has truly proven himself the strongest person in Marvel.

You’d be simply missing out if you didn’t also include Betty Ross and her father Thaddeus, with Red Hulk possibly being the lead antagonist of the story. As for a DLC, including She-Hulk would make for a much lighter side-story, something we may need after playing this.

Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider is an iconic legacy character who has been passed through multiple people. This would also be the first big supernatural Marvel game from Insomniac, which would be beautiful to witness and play.

My loose idea is that while the main character would be Robbie Reyes, it could also have spirits/ghosts of the previous Riders from the past. Going through a historical/supernatural lens, it could be a truly unique experience.

Any Ghost Rider game is basically obligated to have Johnny Blaze in it, possibly acting as Robbie’s mentor and introduction to everything. It could also feature Mephisto as the main antagonist and king of Hell. An idea for the DLC is possibly bringing in Blade, a known ally of the Ghost Rider.

Scarlet Witch

Wanda Maximoff is perhaps one of the most loved female Marvel characters, and it’s for good reason. She’s immensely powerful, which would make for exciting gameplay, seeing as the only way she could be challenged was if she was against someone world-changing.

This could be set in all sorts of places, from Mt. Wundagore, all the way back to New York City. I think it would be incredibly interesting to see how such a powerful character could be played and have real challenges.

Of course, this game would also include her brother, Quicksilver, and possibly even Magneto as well. Depending on when this game would be set, Vision could also have a big part. The DLC potentially even involves their children, Wiccan and Speed.

Moon Knight

Continuing the more mystical theme, Moon Knight would be a fantastic fit for a game. Having different mechanics depending on who exactly you’re playing could be very cool, different missions for the different alters.

There are a lot of options as to where this sort of game could be set. I’m personally partial to either Cairo or London. This would be able to cover grand Egyptian mythology as well as the struggles of mental health. There is a lot of potential for this sort of game; we can only hope they make it.

This would be the only game on the list with multiple main characters (unless you count Bruce and the Hulk). We would be playing as Marc, Steven, Jake, and more if they decide to do so. The DLC could be going inside of Marc’s mindscape, traversing his inner thoughts with the help of his alters and potentially Khonshu.

Black Panther

EA once had plans for an open-world Black Panther game that unfortunately got cancelled. However, that just means Insomniac would know exactly how anticipated a game for this character is. They could most certainly make a game to rival EA’s cancelled one.

A game set in Wakanda would be completely stunning, a beautiful open world in a whole country to explore. Jumping around as Black Panther and acting as the King at the same time, that would be a gripping story indeed.

Contained in the country of Wakanda we could have characters like Shuri and villains like Killmonger and Klaw as well. Bast would also be an influential figure in this story too. Then with the DLC we could have Storm, potentially having the DLC be about her and T’challa’s wedding.

Ant-Man

I highly doubt anyone would want to play a game about Hank Pym, but as Scott Lang? That’s a guaranteed win for Insomniac. The premise of his powers brings in so much potential for designs and storylines, as well as the fascinating history behind the title of ‘Ant-Man’ itself.

The open-world concept would be especially fun for the developers to play with. Especially since there are so many sizes Scott could be, potentially meaning a whole new open-world in the Microverse for us to explore.

And there is no way to have an Ant-Man game without including Scott’s daughter, Cassie Lang. This game would also have to involve Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, unless they take a roundabout approach to the story. The DLC could involve Scott having to deal with Eric O’Grady, an impersonator.

Captain Marvel

For my final pick, it has to be Captain Marvel. A game where you’re travelling and flying through space to deal with cosmic and alien villains across the universe? Sign me up, and at least a million other people, too.

There could be a fascinating mechanic in this game, with multiple ‘open-worlds’ just being large parts of a new planet you’ve gone to. The fighting alone would be worth getting the game, considering all of her abilities and the practise it would take to fully learn with her.

This wouldn’t be a Captain Marvel game without her lovely Chewie by her side. In the main game, she could also come across the Guardians of the Galaxy for a while. Then, in the DLC, you are partnered up with her friend and ally, Monica Rambeau.

These have been our picks for what Marvel games Insomniac should make after Wolverine. We can only hope they continue to make these, especially with all the success their games get. Look out for when these games may end up being announced, I certainly will be.
