Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, posted today to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Stardew Valley, and in doing so, he made a long-awaited announcement.

Stardew Valley already has quite the dating pool, but there are still plenty of NPCs that can not be married. Some of which are because they’re children, while others are already in a relationship (looking at you, Jodi). However, your options just expanded.
At the end of his 10th-anniversary video, Barone revealed that the two new marriage candidates are Clint and Sandy. Clint is the shy, slightly-obsessed-with-Emily blacksmith on the West side of town, while Sandy is…well, the one surrounded with all the sand, because she can be found in Calico desert running the store, the Oasis. The two are essentially as far apart as they get, both in personality and location.
Some people online have voiced their opinions about the decision, with most of the attention going to Clint. People expressed their dislike of his character, with many messages in the live chat in the video premiere saying things like “Not Clint,” and “I don’t like Clint.” Many people also expressed the sentiment that they would have preferred someone else, like the wizard or even Willy.
Sandy, on the other hand, had a bit more support than Clint, although he wasn’t without his defenders. People seem excited to expand their relationships with Sandy, but how this will work is not yet known. You can only get to the Calico Desert by taking the bus after repairing it, so it’s unclear whether you’ll have to wait to meet her or if there will be a new way to meet her sooner.
While there is no confirmed release date for Stardew Valley’s 1.7 update, ConcernedApe is generally pretty efficient when it comes to updating the game. Whether it’s a week from now or a month from now, it shouldn’t be too long a wait.
