The first-ever map of Phasmophobia is getting a major rework on March 3, 2026. This iconic location is filled with memories for a lot of fans, and the studio understands that too much could be received negatively.
So far, Kinetic Games has revealed changes to the visuals, design, and audio features of 6 Tanglewood Drive. Many other changes will become apparent after the update.
Visual Changes for Environmental Storytelling

The team at Kinetic Games has created new assets, including props, animations, and more, to fill the map. These changes could be similar to the visual rework previous maps have received.
Ultimately, the visual changes are supposed to show who 6 Tanglewood Drive belonged to and who lived here before the events that took place.
The devs are hinting at environmental storytelling that players may experience as they piece together the lore to uncover what happened in the past.
Giving 6 Tanglewood Drive Personality Through Design

In terms of design, the team has taken inspiration from the feedback of newer maps like Nell’s Diner and kept the core of 6 Tanglewood Drive. The changes include new interactions and landmarks, mostly to allow players to approach the map in multiple ways.
The only major design change revealed so far is the removal of the looping spot in the kitchen area. Fear not, because the devs clarify that there will be other locations within the walls to loop the ghosts.
Audio Features

There will be a whole array of new audio features for existing and new parts of Tanglewood. This is in line to make the map one of the most immersive experiences the game has to offer.
One example is the addition of a dryer jingle sound.
Kinetic Games believes that it is only improving upon what makes the map special, calling these changes the original vision that it had at the start.
The reworks are supposed to give more personality to the iconic map. However, whether these will be welcomed by the overall community will be clear once the update is live on March 3.
