The Gel Cleaning Station in Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 is one of those areas that looks simple but can trip you up fast. There’s a turbine puzzle to solve, a secret room hiding a Golden Chum collectible, and a few steps that aren’t obvious at all. Here’s everything you need to know to get through it cleanly.

How to Solve the Turbine Shapes Puzzle

When you first enter the Gel Cleaning Station, you’ll see a large wind turbine and a screen displaying three red shapes. These shapes are randomized for each player, so there’s no single universal solution.

Across from the screen, there are several levers that must be activated in a specific order. The correct order is hinted at by the shapes shown on the screen.

To solve this, use your blacklight and examine the area around the levers. Each lever has a corresponding shape next to it. Your task is to pull the levers in the same order as the shapes displayed on the screen, from left to right.

For example, my sequence was hexagon, diamond, then star, so I pulled the levers in that order. Once you activate the correct sequence, you’ll hear a ping sound, and the turbine will stop spinning.

Once that’s done, head to the right side of the room and look up. You’ll spot a platform with magnetic panels. Grab the handle, pull it toward the broken bridge, and use it to reach the upper level.

How to Get the Golden Chum Collectible

This is the part most players miss completely. Before you continue, there’s a secret room worth visiting.

After climbing to the upper platform, look for a wheel valve next to a door. Rotate it to freeze the gel beneath the platform you came from. Once it’s frozen, break it using your Pressure Hand and enter the secret room.

Note that everything in this secret room is a time-attack mini-game, so you need to complete each step quickly before the machine shuts down.

Here’s what to do:

1. Use the ceiling magnet strip to get to the higher level
2. Pull the small storage box off the top floor so you can jump over the pipes below
3. On the lower machine, hit the green switch, then quickly pull the lever before the liquid crosses the red line
4. Immediately go to the upper platform again; you need to be fast!
5. On the upper machine, wait until the liquid sits between the two green lines before pulling the lever
6. Twist the red wheel valve upstairs to freeze the goo below, then smash it
7. Find the small red button near the magnetic wall, press it to open the door upstairs for a short time
8. Climb the magnetic wall, turn around, and launch yourself at the panel across to reach the walkway
9. Quickly run through the door, drop down, and grab the Golden Chum collectible

Getting Through the Turbine Tunnel

Once you’re on the upper level, stand on the center platform facing the turbine tunnel. You’ll see two green switches, one on the left, one on the right.

Here’s the order that works best:

1. Press the left switch until it reaches the maximum level.
2. Press the right switch just enough for the turbine to fully open.
3. Quickly use your Magnetic Hand at the highest part of the panel to swing through the turbine.

If you fall inside the turbine, don’t panic. There’s a side door inside that brings you back to the station so you can try again.

After getting to the other side of the turbine, you’ll be pushed by a massive fan and fall into a large tunnel, where you’ll continue your journey in Poppy Playtime Chapter 5.
