Heartopia’s Winter Frost Event has introduced animals, activities, and collectibles that encourage players to explore familiar areas in new ways. Another addition during the Winter Frost Event is the appearance of penguins, along with their dedicated Penguin Trough. Read on to learn exactly where to find the Penguin Trough and the penguins’ favorite foods and preferred weather conditions so you can interact with them and build up your friendship levels.
Where To Find Penguin Trough

The Penguin Trough unlocks during the Fourth Week of the Winter Frost Event in Heartopia. If you visit too early in the event, the penguins and their trough will not appear, so you’ll have to wait until it’s Week 4 in your region.
In Week 4, you’ll be introduced to penguins in a quest given by the NPC Naughty. This signals the arrival of the penguins and encourages players to find them. If you haven’t encountered the penguins yet, make sure you’ve reached this point in the Winter Frost Event questline.
To find the Penguin Trough, head to Winter Utopia, specifically the Onsen Mountain area. Once you arrive, make your way toward the path that leads to the Concert Portal. This is a commonly traveled route during events, so if you’re rushing through, you can miss the penguin trough entirely.
The Penguin Trough itself can be found nestled between the igloo and the concert venue entrance.
Penguin Favorite Foods and Weather Preferences

To successfully interact with penguins and make the most of the Penguin Trough, it’s important to bring them items they love.
Penguins have a clear preference for seafood. Their favorite foods include Sardines, Common Shrimp, and False Scad.
Offering these items at the Penguin Trough increases your chances of successful interactions and helps increase your friendship levels with the penguins. You can try with other foods, but Penguins love these the most.
Moreover, Penguins thrive in cold, wintry conditions. Their favorite weather type is Rainbow. The penguins are exclusive to the Winter Frost Event and won’t stick around forever. That means your time with them is limited, so don’t wait too long. Make the most of their stay and spoil these little penguins with their favorite snacks while you can.
