Fans have been waiting a long time for more news about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and we have finally received our first synopsis for the movie. While we may not have the trailer yet, this means it is highly likely that it will be coming soon.

This new synopsis has sparked a lot of theories and rumours around the internet regarding this film. This article will discuss both the synopsis, rumours, and theories that have stemmed from it all.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Synopsis & Potential Theories

Revealed via the Brand New Day upcoming art book, the synopsis is as follows:

“Four years have gone by since we last caught up with our friendly neighborhood hero. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man is at the top of his game, keeping New York City safe. Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before. In order to take on what’s ahead, Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past!”

This confirms that Brand New Day will be set in 2028 and that Spider-Man will be dealing with a mystery of sorts. We also know some of the other characters and actors that have been confirmed for this movie that may be joining Peter in his dangerous fight.

Since all of this was revealed, new rumours have also come out from a reliable source saying that Peter will still be in love with MJ. But, more interestingly, he will reportedly have a blonde neighbour.

Now, this may seem unimportant, but there are many implications of what this could mean, and fans are hopeful to see all sorts of characters appear.

The most common pick for who this could be is Gwen Stacy, one of the most iconic Spider-Man characters in the franchise. So far, Gwen has not appeared in the MCU at all, which is quite suspicious, so this may just be her introduction into this universe.

She is known to casual fans through her iconic and tragic death, which was actually shown in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. So if it is introduced in Brand New Day, then it will only be a matter of time before her horrific ending.

The second most common pick is Felicia Hardy, who has so far never appeared in a Spider-Man film. She is a notable love interest of Peter’s throughout the decades and has much more going on far beyond that.

We saw her in the PS4 game DLC of Spider-Man, where she stole the hearts of both Peter and the fans in one fell swoop. She then appeared as a minor character in the sequel and received a large amount of acclaim for both of her appearances.

Now, into the less likely options, we have Eddie Brock. Fans mostly know him from Sony’s Venom movies or from 2007’s Spider-Man 3, which is infamous in many ways.

In the comics, Eddie actually works with Peter at the Daily Bugle before eventually bonding with the Venom symbiote. This movie could be our introduction to Eddie before Venom appears, possibly showcasing his character and relationship with Peter. Also, potentially setting up the next movie to have Venom as the main antagonist, something people have been waiting for since 2016.

The least likely option, one that would surprise every single person in the cinema if it happened, is Johnny Storm. Yes, that Johnny Storm. Known for being one of the titular Fantastic Four, he is also known in the comics as being Peter Parker’s best friend.

In fact, in the comics, they have actually lived together in an apartment, and they have an incredibly close bond. If you look at it in that way, it’s understandable why the fans believe he will be the neighbour, but with the current MCU timeline, it’s basically impossible.

In total, this new synopsis solidifies that the trailer will be coming soon, especially with the movie set to release on July 31st. That, as well as the current rumors, has increased the hype for this movie even more – who thought it was even possible?
