Starsand Island has just launched on Steam and Xbox to much fanfare. The cosy life sim has a lot to offer, from ranching to exploring and just about anything in between – including a full romance and cohabitation system à la Story of Seasons or Stardew Valley.
As you settle in on the island, you might find yourself looking for a companion to share your homestead with. Luckily, there are a lot of different eligible folks kicking around who are also looking for love. Let’s take a look at all of the romance options available in Starsand Island so far.

Alex

Alex is a charming carpenter and woodworker who runs the local furniture shop. She’s kind and keen to help out – especially when she realises you live in the ramshackle, crumbling cottage on the outskirts of town.
Although she has a somewhat stony exterior, Alex is a big softy on the inside. She’s even gone as far as covering the island with homemade birdhouses and cat cabins for all of Starsand’s smaller neighbours. What’s not to love about that?!
Aurelis

Something you’ll quickly notice about Starsand Island is that there’s a truly above-average number of suave silver-haired gentlemen running around (Gojo Satoru, who?). Top chef Aurelis is among them, and so long as you don’t mind the fact that he tells you that you smell the first time you meet him, he’s an eligible bachelor looking to settle down.
Aurelis is passionate about all things food. After being snubbed by his family and passed over when it came to inheriting the family business, he headed off to seek new adventures and fresh ingredients. Along the way, he set up Aureleaf Kitchen, a bustling food spot beloved by most of Starsand’s residents. The quickest way to his heart isn’t necessarily through his stomach – but it is by bringing him the freshest ingredients from your farming and foraging.
Francis / Delphin

Gather round, everyone who wanted to grow up to become a marine biologist – esoteric islander Francis is probably just who you’re going to want to marry.
Francis has called Starsand home since he moved here to live with his aunt as a child. Back then, you two were childhood friends, before you left the island. He’s passionate about everything the sea has to offer, from fishing to surfing. He also takes care of the island’s deep-sea observatory, where you can join him to watch fish and whales in their natural habitat.
You might have come across this guy being called Delphin up until now – y’know, like dolphin, as a nod to his penchant for all things aquatic – but he’s definitely called Delphin in the English-language early access release of Starsand Island.
Graminova

Green-thumbed Graminova is Starsand’s expert agricultural researcher. He even has a doctorate to prove it. If you ask nicely, he’ll also teach you everything there is to know about growing fruit, veggies, and any other crops your heart desires.
Don’t be deceived by his ethereal appearance: he’s actually rather rude when you first get to know him. But maybe, if you dig a little deeper, he might be hiding some softness under that harsh façade. You’ll just need to grab a trowel and dig a little deeper.
Loren

Loren is, for lack of a better term, Starsand Island’s e-boy. He runs the local retro arcade, where he fixes up machines with Zerine and cashes in on the locals’ love of gaming.
He’s fairly new to the island, having only moved there around two years ago. Since then, his business has boomed – and his little sister Momo, whom he is the primary carer of, seems much happier. Because of his long list of responsibilities, you might not be high up on Loren’s list of priorities at first – making him a perfect choice if you want an independent partner who just lets you get on with building your new home.
Lunelle

Lunelle is a creative, quick-witted fashion designer and bookworm who runs her own clothes store. She’s well-read and highly educated, with a flair for philosophy, fine art, and, of course, nice outfits.
The dressmaker hails from a large, wealthy family from outside of Starsand. She actually settled on the island’s sandy shores on a whim, after ditching her fiancé the night before her big wedding. Dedicated to seeking out a new life, she’s found herself at home in Starsand Town. Let’s just hope that history doesn’t repeat itself, and you don’t find yourself alone at the altar.
Neona

Petrolheaded Neona runs Starsand Island’s auto shop. When she isn’t riding her motorbike around Starsand’s cliffs, you can find her tinkering with engines, working on heavy machinery, and researching new power sources using the island’s renewable resources.
She’s much more confident and brash than most of Starsand’s other romanceables, so if you like to know exactly where you’re at with your partner, then Neona might just turn out to be the one. Plus, even besides being fun to be around, she can throw you a discount on your first bike rental. Score.
Pastelle

Pastelle is a childhood friend who works on the ranch you can see from your backyard. She’s passionate about taking care of her gang of alpacas, sheep, cows, chickens, and any other farmyard friends she can get her hands on.
Taking care of animals is her lifelong dream. Somehow, she even managed to leave Starsand at just 16 years old to start studying veterinary sciences to help better her journey towards being the ultimate rancher. Her love of animals isn’t just reflective of her interests, either – she has a big heart and a lot of compassion to share with her human companions, too.
Serena

Serena is a friendly hair and makeup artist with her own salon. If you’ve just arrived on the island, she’s one of the best people to get to know, as she just about knows everyone – and will tell you exactly what she thinks about them. Thankfully for Starsand’s other residents, she almost only has nice things to say.
Before she decided to try out the quiet life on Starsand Island, she was a professional stylist in showbiz, as well as a stage manager for Stella. As a matter of fact, the two of them actually moved to the island together, so you might be up against a little competition if you’re interested in her.
Solara

Solara is the first face you see when you land on Starsand Island. You probably remember her from the tutorial, where she taught you how to cut down trees, clear up your yard, and decorate your home. As the mayor’s assistant, it’s her job to make sure everyone settles into the island properly, after all.
As her name suggests, she’s a total ray of sunshine. Sweet and bubbly Solara is also one of your oldest friends, whom you’ve known since you were a small child. So, if you love slow-burn romance and friendship-to-lover dynamics, then she’s probably the best pick for you.
Stella

Not so long ago, Stella hung up her headset and graduated from being an idol to follow her true passion: taking care of sweet little animals. Now, she avoids the spotlight to hang out with her pooch Pudding and Peanut the parrot. Oh, and her human friends Solara and Serena.
Stella is impulsive, fun, and driven. With heaps of passion, she’s able to turn her hand to anything she puts her mind to, whether that’s running her pet shop or becoming a top musician. Even if you don’t decide to date her, you’re probably going to see a lot of her if you decide to try to make friends with any of the island’s stray animals. So, be sure to take the time to get to know her a little when you swing by Woof & Wow Pets.
Sylvain

Quiet, gentle Sylvain loves two things: music and speaking in non-sequiturs. But, if you’d like, I’m sure he could eventually love you, too.
Sylvian is Starsand’s resident musician. He’s well-connected and, as a result, is quite embedded in the local community, despite his slightly strange vibe. When he isn’t hanging out with his cousin Stella or close friend Serena, he mostly spends his time practicing the violin (or one of his many other instruments) and running his shop.
Zephyria

Zephyria is the leader of the Exploration Club. As such, he knows everything there is to know about combat – and about Starsand Island’s mysterious Moonlit Forest. And boy, won’t he be quick to remind you of that.
Smart and self-assured, Zephyria is a bright adventurer dedicated to discovering all of Starsand’s hidden secrets, from mapping out the area’s ancient ruins to uncovering new archeological finds. You might have a hard time finding him if you decide you want to get to know him, as he’s pretty elusive and unpredictable. But once you find him, you can ask him to be your mentor, giving him a chance to tell you everything about his passions.
Zerine

Zerine is Starsand Town’s local crafter. Although you can usually find her working her day job at the local mini mart, she’s actually a mechanics-obsessed tech, so if she seems a little preoccupied when you try to speak to her, she’s probably just busy dreaming of electric sheep.
Depending on how you look at her, Zerine is either timid and shy or perhaps a little aloof. And, she might not have much to say to you for a while. But if you don’t mind a relationship of a few words, then you could totally bond over a mutual love of gaming and inventing fun new things. She might even teach you a new thing or two about crafting.
Youfang
Perhaps one of Starsand’s most solitary residents is tucked away on top of Bastrom Heights. Youfang is a young monk who has stationed himself in a temple on top of Starsand’s mountain peak. He’s hard to find, especially as the mountain is difficult to traverse, but if you follow the blue hydrangeas snaking up the mountain roads, then you’ll get there in no time.
Starsand’s spiritual leader is kind, laidback, and calm. If you’re hoping to win his heart, then I’d definitely recommend you pocket a few of the flowers you see on the way up to his temple to bring him as gifts. Just don’t expect a relationship with him to follow the usual path.
