A new AAA action game set in the world of John Wick is officially in development, and this time it is the real deal.
Announced during Sony’s State of Play, Lionsgate and Saber Interactive have revealed the currently titled “Untitled John Wick Game,” a single-player third-person action title built for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is being designed specifically for mature audiences and is aiming squarely at fans who want to fully step into the polished chaos of the Baba Yaga.
Set Before “the Impossible Task“
Created in collaboration between Saber, Lionsgate, and franchise director Chad Stahelski, the game will tell an original story set years before the Impossible Task. That means we are going deeper into the High Table’s shadowy politics, expanding the mythology with familiar faces and entirely new characters created just for this project.
Yes, Keanu Reeves is back. Reeves is involved in production and will reprise his role with his likeness and voice, making this a proper extension of the film canon rather than a loose adaptation.
Built Around Gun-Fu
Saber says the game is being crafted to feel like playing a John Wick movie. Expect hard-hitting gun-fu combat that blends tight martial arts with precision gunplay, cinematic camerawork, intense driving sequences, and globe-spanning locations. The pitch is clear. You are not watching John Wick. You are John Wick.
Lionsgate’s Jenefer Brown described the collaboration as a close partnership focused on capturing the franchise’s brand-defining fight choreography and immersive world-building. Saber CEO Matthew Karch called Wick one of the most iconic characters in action film history and framed the project as a true AAA experience built with full franchise support.
The Wick Universe Keeps Growing
The franchise has already generated over $1 billion worldwide across four films and expanded to television with The Continental: From the World of John Wick. The spinoff film Ballerina stars Ana de Armas, and more projects are on the way, including a Caine-focused film starring Donnie Yen and another movie set after Chapter 4.
Saber, meanwhile, is coming off 2024’s hit Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which moved more than seven million copies in its first year and earned major awards nominations. The studio has the pedigree. Now it has the Baba Yaga.
The Untitled John Wick Game is available to wishlist on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. No release date has been announced.
