Back in December, during Grotmas, Games Workshop revealed that Huron Blackheart would be getting a new model for Warhammer 40k. Games Workshop recently revealed Huron’s new datasheet, but they didn’t stop there; they also revealed new datasheets for the rest of his crew!
Who Is Huron Blackheart?

If you’ve never heard of Huron Blackheart before, he’s most famous for taking a full-powered melta blast right to the face and surviving it. As a result, half his face was destroyed, and his right arm was fitted with a pretty gnarly weapon known as the Tyrant’s Claw.
Another thing he’s famous for is being the leader of the Red Corsair Raiders. The Red Corsair Raiders are Chaos-aligned and use the Chaos Space Marine codex/rules. They also pretty much live and operate in the Maelstrom, which is home to many a dangerous warp storm.
Huron And His Crew’s New Datasheets

Huron Blackheart’s new datasheet looks pretty good and makes him a fearsome foe for anyone choosing to oppose him. He has Deep Strike, Feel No Pain 5+, and Leader for his core rules.
As for his model’s rules, he has an aura ability called Lord of Badab, which allows him to add 1 to the objective control Heretic Astartes Infantry models.
The alien-looking dog on his base also gives Huron another ability called Hamadrya’s Knowledge, which is a psychic ability. It allows players once per battle round to make a D3+3-inch move if another unit ended a normal, advance, or fall back move within 9 inches of Huron and/or his unit.
As for Huron’s weapons, his Tyrant Claw acts as a flamer and has a 12-inch range, D6+2 attacks, strength of 6, -1 armor penetration, and deals 1 damage. It also ignores cover, is a pistol, and has Torrent.
His melee profile is where he really shines, though. His Tyrant’s Claw and axe combine for 6 attacks, hit on 2+, have a strength of 8, with AP -3, and deal a respectable 3 wounds to any model/unit that can’t/fails to make their save.

Huron wouldn’t be much of a pirate captain if he didn’t have a solid and dependable crew, and dependable they are! Huron’s crew includes Garlon Souleater, Garreon The Corpsemaster, Katar Garrix, Captain Sargotta, and a being known only as The Enforcer.
Each member of the crew brings their own unique skills and weapons to make for a deadly force on the tabletop. Garreon gets the Absolvor Bolt Pistol and the Reductor Array. Garreon is also able to use the ability Choice Samples, which allows him to return 1 non-character model in your command phase, or net you a Command Point if he’s within 3 inches of a Heretic Astartes Infantry unit that is below starting strength.
Garlon Souleater brings his Mind Wrench and Force Stave into battle. The Mindwrench, having Precision, means you can bypass a unit if you wanna target a character model attached to it. Katar Garrix gets a Bolt Pistol and Axe of Ending, with the Axe of Ending having Anti-Character 2+ and Precision.
Captain Sargotta carries a Laspistol and a Power Sabre, which are fitting weapons for the master of Huron’s fleet. Captain Sargotta also has the ability Fleet Command, which allows her to redeploy up to 3 Heretic Astartes units after both players have deployed their armies, which is a pretty strong ability and is thematic for her model.
Finally, we have The Enforcer, who comes equipped with the Londaxi Maimer and Bionic Gauntlet. The Londaxi Maimer giving them Assault means you can advance The Enforcer, and they’re still able to shoot their weapon. They can also use their Plunder once per battle. Doing so means that as long as they roll a 2+ on a D6, they can inflict D3+1 Mortal Wounds on an enemy unit.

Huron Blackheart and his Masters of the Maelstrom are looking pretty good with their new datasheets, and I think they’ll be fun to play in Chaos Space Marines. At the moment, neither Huron Blackheart, Masters of the Maelstrom, nor the Red Corsair Raiders has a release date, but here’s hoping we learn more soon!
