With each new Pokemon TCG expansion that releases, hundreds of new cards are added, featuring artworks of both fan-favorites and more niche monsters. Many of these cards, particularly the more rare secret illustrations, quickly gain value following the release of a set – and Ascended Heroes is no exception.
Here are the 10 most expensive cards in Pokemon TCG’s Ascended Heroes set, and how much they’re worth. We’ve inclued the full card artworks so can admire all of the little details up close.
Note: prices will likely change or fluctuate following as more time passes, the cards listed below are priced at market value as of January 4, 2026.
10. N’s Zoroark ex #286
$163.62 USD

We all know N is one of the most popular characters throughout the Pokemon franchise, and Zoroark is kind of his signature/partner Pokemon. It’s not really a massive surprise that a card featuring this dynamic duo is among the most valuable in the set.
The fact that the illustration is absolutely gorgeous definitely works in its favor, though. There are so many intricate little patterns and details to admire in the background, the composition of everything is lovely, and the serene poses from N and Zoroark just complete the whole scene.
9. Mega Diancie ex #282
$216 USD

As if the upwards of $150 price wasn’t steep enough, this pretty in pink Mega Diancie card kicks things up another notch, already fetching prices of over $200 USD.
To be fair, this is another very beautiful illustration with gorgeous use of color palette and subtle details to find in each little space. It’s a lovely pastel tone, making a perfect addition to any special color-themed collection or Diancie enthusiast.
8. Mega Feraligatr ex #274
$236.33 USD

Despite all three of the new final form starters from Legends: Z-A getting full art illustrations in Ascended Heroes, Ferligatr seems to have climbed a head and shoulders above Emboar and Meganium, as this particular Mega Ferligatr card is fetching well over $200 USD already.
Again, it’s easy to see why, based on that illustration. While some fans remain divided over the design of Mega Feraligatr, this illustration is wonderful. The water texture is beautiful, the colors pop so well, and Feraligatr himself looks so full of life and ready to jump into battle.
7. Lillie’s Clefairy ex #280
$272.08 USD

And next up, we have one of the many Pokemon Trainers introduced to the franchise, Lillie. What is particularly heartwarming about her story in the games is that she initially starts off as someone who is afraid of touching Pokemon and completely lacks confidence around them. This obviously changes over time, though, as illustrated in this gorgeous card.
Knowing Lillie’s story, this really is such a fitting art piece, showing her embracing her happy Clefairy. Alola is captured beautifully in the background scene with lush grass and flowers near the bottom, and a vibrant beach near the top of the card. If you have the luck of pulling this one, it’s good for a couple of hundred bucks!
6. Pikachu ex #277
$428 USD

This list probably wouldn’t be complete without a Pikachu card on it, right? It’s just one of those Pokemon that always seem to skyrocket in value, along with the likes of Charizard and Gengar. Well… there are actually two Pikachu cards on this list, and they’re just as valuable as one another, really.
This Pikachu card is the slightly less valuable one of the two, showcasing a bright and bold illustration of a Tera Pikachu. The colors of the terastillized crown really do pop against the pastel gradient background, and the crystalized pattern on Pikachu itself is a lovely touch.
5. Mega Dragonite ex #290
$497.66 USD

This absolutely incredible Mega Dragonite card falls just under the whopping $500 mark. There’s little shock that this one has climbed to one of the most valuable cards in the set, though, considering not only the card’s rarity, but the love for Dragonite throughout the fanbase.
The colors on this illustration are phenomenal. The lighting is so beautifully done, with the glow from the rainbows and sparkles reflecting around Mega Dragonite. The lovely blues and pinks of the evolution line in the background are so well done, too. Many of these Ascended Heroes illustrations really do pack the highest amounts of detail into the smallest surfaces.
4. Pikachu ex #276
$499.99 USD

Ah, and so arrives the second Pikachu card featured on this list. Anyone who manages to pull this card can currently fetch approximately $500 USD at market price, which is absolutely insane to consider.
This one is the more natural illustration out of the two, featuring Pikachu standing in a forest landscape and curiously looking towards the camera. There’s no denying it, it’s damn adorable. Sadly, there’s no denying that price tag, too. If you’re not lucky enough to beat the odds of pulling this from a pack, well, you’ll need to have a spare five hundred around to try and grab one.
3. Mega Dragonite ex #295
$549 USD

One of only two golden cards in the set, this Mega Dragonite is in the top three most expensive cards available, with a market price already exceeding over $500 USD.
The artwork is adorable, there’s no doubt about that. But really, it’s the bright golden glow that makes this one stand out – with the rarity and cosmetic appeal, golden cards have been some of the most sought after by collectors in recent sets. Combine that with Dragonite’s popularity, and this one was bound to be a big hitter.
2. Mega Charizard Y ex #294
$650.93

Again, we have the only other golden card from Ascended Heroes – and of course, a Charizard naturally manages to wiggle its way into every valuable Pokemon card list, it seems.
There’s just no denying people love the iconic final form of Kanto’s Fire Type starter, and its Mega Evolved forms are almost equally popular (or in some cases even more so). As a result, this card already has a market price of around $650 USD…but hey, at least if you pull one, it can either fetch a pretty penny or become a phenomenal addition to your collection.
1. Mega Gengar ex #284
$975.25

Lastly, we have the currently most expensive card from the entire Ascended Heroes set – Mega Gengar. Look, there’s just no denying this one – this is an absolutely phenomenal illustration, so full of vibrant colors and beautiful lighting to make the big ghostie pop. Plus, this is just a really cool pose and angle, with Gengar staring directly at the camera/viewer.
However, this card is worth almost an absolutely whopping thousand USD, and that’s ungraded. Let’s take a moment to let that sink in. Think of how many other things in the world are outpriced by this gorgeous illustration on cardboard! It’s insane to see cards taking off and reaching such extreme values, and so soon after release. If the initial boom is anything to go by, this card is not going to be losing value any time soon. If you pull this one, just know you’ve scored massively.
