Stardew Valley’s upcoming 1.7 update will introduce two marriage candidates, according to comments from creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone.

Barone hasn’t said more than that, so they could even be two completely new characters, but fans are betting on Sandy and the Wizard (Rasmodius). Barone has also said that he’s saving their identities for the game’s 10th anniversary celebrations, which is only a few weeks away on February 26.

Kids Are Getting an Update Too

In the brief interview snippet that IGN released, he also mentioned that player’s kids will get “a little more interesting.” Until now, they’ve been closer to pets than people, so it’s a welcome change that fans have been waiting for.

Fans Want Sandy and Raz Most

As you’d expect, the fans have already started speculating. Even Joja Mart Girl is on the list for some reason. Currently, the two names at the top of the charts are Sandy and the Wizard (Rasmodius).

Both a lesser known, underused characters that could be strong candidates. Sandy, the desert shopkeeper, is friends with Emily and lives in the hard-to-reach desert. The Wizard, on the other hand, is eaiser to find, but harder to befriend. Both are intriguing, single, and open up the marriage pool in interesting ways, but are they likely? Hard to say. Currently, none of the shopkeepers can be married, but there’s always a first.

The Rest of Pelican Town Isn’t Safe Either

Although many of the other non-romanceable NPCs have already paired off, that hasn’t stopped fans for pining over them. Marnie, Gus, Gunther, Clint, Willy, and Marlon are on the list. Robin and Demetrius have been having relationship troubles as of 1.6 too, so even they could be the two marriage candidates.

I hope Demetrius is happy with the ‘samples’ he collected. Seems like his little science project is more important to him than his own wife. Hmmph,” – Robin, a day after Stardew Valley’s mysterious green rain.

Conclusion

In the end, it’s all speculation, and we’ll have to wait until Feb 26 to hear the truth straight from the Concerned Ape’s mouth. For now, we know that 1.7 is shaping up to be a social update, with more NPC interactions across the board.
