Josee’s story in Code Vein 2 is some rough tragedy. After you acquire her key, you return to the present and learn her fate after you left was a sad one, leading to her being sealed. So the big question is if you can actually save Josee in Code Vein 2.

This has some pretty definite spoilers, so only continue if you really want to know. The following is required to get all the endings (and all trophies/achievements). So you have to do it anyway.

Saving Josee in Code Vein 2

The answer is technically no, you can’t save Josee. Sadly, this isn’t like saving Noah, because he isn’t one of the heroes.

You go through a whole questline to change the fate we learned had befallen Josee, but it doesn’t change the outcome. While she no longer turns into the same tortured, blinded monster you fought the first time, she still agrees to be sealed when called upon. Therefore, she still must die. There’s just no way around it.

You’re looking at a much harder fight this time against Hero Josee, with none of her same moves and a lighter, happier design. I first tried this fight at level 90 and almost won it, but I think I need to work on a few things.

So, yeah. While things are presented as more upbeat and hopeful and you don’t get Josee’s tragic and haunting wailing in this version of the fight, it isn’t any happier in the long run. I have no idea how things fully end up from here in terms of the ending, but this is still a sizeable punch in the gut.

You gotta remember that above all, this is a story about saving a present, and you have already received your direct orders on what must be done to achieve that.
