The new “With a View” quest in ARC Raiders can be quite confusing if you don’t know where to look. Shani tasks you with finding a Rotary Encoder and an Ion Sputter in Stella Montis. Follow this guide to locate them and complete the quest.
Rotary Encoder Location in Arc Raiders
The Rotary Encoder is an exodus-tier item, which means it’s purple rarity and kind of rare. You can find it in three main spots in Stella Montis:

- Medical Research – Check the upper floor drawers
- Assembly Workshops – Look in the control room areas
- Business Center – Search all the containers you can find
The problem is, everyone wants this item. If you spawn into a match that’s already halfway done, you’re probably out of luck. Other players will have grabbed it already. Your best bet is to spawn at the very start of a match and rush to one of these locations immediately.

When you’re searching, focus on white drawers, cabinets, and tool tables. These containers have the best chance of having the Rotary Encoder. Once you find it, stick it in your Safe Pocket right away. This keeps it safe even if you die, which is super important.
Head to the Control Room
After you’ve got the Rotary Encoder, head to the Assembly Workshops area in the northwestern part of Stella Montis. You’re looking for the control rooms, they’re easy to spot because they have big windows and computer terminals inside.

Go into any control room and look for a bright yellow lever. You’ll need the Rotary Encoder in your inventory to use it. Interact with the lever, and then immediately interact with the computer terminal right next to it. This activates the server switch and completes the second part of the quest.
Don’t sell or drop your Rotary Encoder yet! You’ll need to keep it until you finish the Ion Sputter part of the quest. After that’s done, you can even give it to a friend so they can do their quest too.
Ion Sputter Location in Arc Raiders
Now comes the final step, finding the Ion Sputter. This is another exodus-tier item, so it’s just as rare as the Rotary Encoder.

Luckily, the best locations to find the Ion Sputter are in the Assembly and Assembly Workshops. So after you finish activating the server in the control room, you can quickly search the same area for an Ion Sputter.
Check both inside rooms and outside areas in Assembly. Don’t forget to search the offices on both floors of Assembly Workshops.
You might have already found one while searching for the Rotary Encoder, so double-check your inventory to avoid wasting time.
If you’re having trouble finding one, try a Night Raid on Stella Montis. The spawn rates might be better, but watch out, you’ll run into more hostile raiders who are also hunting for rare loot.
Quick Tips
The biggest challenge here is finding both exodus items before someone else does. If you don’t spawn close to Medical or Assembly at the start, just quit and try again. It sounds harsh, but it saves you time running across the map only to find empty containers.
Always bring a Safe Pocket into every raid attempt. These items are too valuable to risk losing, and you want to protect them the second you pick them up.

Once you’ve got the Ion Sputter, extract back to Speranza and turn it in to Shani. Your rewards are 5x Steel Springs, 5x Wires, and a Tactical MK.2 augment. Not the best loot ever, but hey, at least the quest is finally done.
