In early January, Minecraft officially announced its first major update for the year, and it’s the cutest update drop we’ll be seeing. You’ll find that baby mobs are getting new versions, and this has made us wonder whether baby mobs are destined to grow into adults over time.
Fortunately, Minecraft introduced a new item a few hours ago, which changes that entirely. We can now have a pen full of cute baby mobs forever. By crafting a Golden Dandelion, you can allow your mobs to stay with you in their young and cute form. With that in mind, we’ll walk you through how to craft a Golden Dandelion in Minecraft.
What Does a Golden Dandelion Do?

To make things simple, the newly added Golden Dandelion item in Minecraft allows baby mobs to stay babies forever. They’ll never grow into adults, and you can keep them with you. This makes it perfect if you want to preserve the game’s cutest creatures for decoration, roleplay, or even themed farms.
Just be careful since baby mobs are more vulnerable to damage, so a huge responsibility comes with letting them have their eternal youth. With their lower health, baby mobs are more vulnerable to hostile mobs, environmental hazards, and, of course, accidents. You need to protect them if you plan to use the Golden Dandelion to keep them permanently young.
Overall, the Golden Dandelion adds a charming mechanic to Minecraft that gives you more control over how you want to interact with mobs. Instead of simply raising them (and sometimes just killing themf or resources), you get to have a newfound relationship with mobs, especially their baby counterparts.
How to Craft Golden Dandelion in Minecraft

Crafting a Golden Dandelion is easy. You can access this feature by opening the latest Minecraft snapshot release, which was just released today. Navigate to your Minecraft launcher and ensure you’re playing on Minecraft Snapshot 26.1 Snapshot 5. Afterwards, create a single-player world and start playing.

To craft the Golden Dandelion, there’s a prerequisite of having to breed your first mob. Find any two mobs and breed them with their respective food items. This should give you The Parrots and the Bats achievement, which indicates you’ve bred your first mob. This will unlock the recipe for the Golden Dandelion.

Once you’ve done that, you can start to look for the crafting ingredients for the Golden Dandelion. You need 1 Dandelion and 8 Gold Nuggets. While Dandelions can be found everywhere in your Minecraft world, finding some Gold Nuggets will require you to look for Gold Ores, smelt them, and craft them into their nugget form. Gold can be found by mining deep underground at around y-level -16 in most biomes. But you’ll have higher chances of finding gold within the Nether.

Upon gathering the ingredients, open up your Crafting Table, and you can either use the automatic recipe on the left side of your crafting interface or manually craft it on your own. Simply put the Dandelion in the middle slot of the crafting interface and have each Gold Nugget fill out the slots around the Dandelion. With that, you’ve learned how to craft a Golden Dandelion.

How to Use Golden Dandelion

In terms of usage, simply place the item in your hotbar and right-click it on a baby mob in Minecraft. You’ll find some green stars animation appearing which indicates you’ve used the Golden Dandelion. Once you’ve done this, the Golden Dandelion will immediately apply its effect, locking the baby mob in that form permanently.

You can also use the Golden Dandelion to remove that effect. Use another Golden Dandelion to right-click on the affected mob to get the same animation, and it will now be allowed to grow up.

The Golden Dandelion is quite a unique item added to Minecraft, giving players a new way to interact with baby mobs. By learning how to craft and use the Golden Dandelion, you can permanently keep baby mobs in their youthful form, or reverse that effect if you change your mind later on.
Just remember to protect your baby mobs as their lower health makes them more vulnerable to danger and damage. So, keep an eye on them at all times while still having fun.
