The ARC Raiders team has just given us more information on the first installation of their 2026 Roadmap; Headwinds. Let’s go over what we have in store!

New Matchmaking Option

My prediction for the new matchmaking option was that it would have something to do with ranked, and or a PvP centered mode. However, ARC Raiders has confirmed that the new matchmaking option is Solo v Squads. That’s right! If you have reached level 40 you will now be able to queue up into a squad lobby and fend for yourself! Moreover, this new mode offers extra XP if you’re up for the challenge!

Bird City

I had assumed that the new bird map condition would revolve around extra flocks raising more awareness to ARC. However, that does not seem to be the case. Instead, due to the ice melting in Buried City, birds have been stocking up supplies around chimneys on the map. I am sure that one of our dedicated writers here at The Phrasemaker will create a map with all chimney locations for you when the update releases!

Cosmetics

ARC Raiders has also confirmed that there will be two new cosmetic skins dropping with the update. However, they have only revealed one of them to us, the Sandwalker Set. I, for one, think this skin looks awesome and I may have just enough Raider Tokens saved up to purchase it. I’m assuming that the second cosmetic skin will be a part of the new project.

Trophy Display: Project

Finally, we have the name of the next project to work on. This one has everything to do with filling up a trophy display to earn valuable items. There is nothing much else on this one, so we’ll have more information when the update drops. 

Headwinds is set to release January 27th, so we’ll see you tomorrow raiders!
