HBO Max’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the newest highly-anticipated installment in the Game of Thrones Franchise. It takes place between the events of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, and it’s based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas.
While these books don’t have as much content as A Song of Ice and Fire does, there is still plenty to explore in the story of Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg, whose story we’re sure to learn more about later in the season. Avid Game of Thrones fans might recognize some character names, but those who might not have caught every little detail in the show or books are sure to get filled in soon.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Release Date

The first episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms released on Sunday, January 18, and the rest of the episodes will come out every subsequent Sunday. There will be six episodes in total, meaning that the season will end in late February.
According to the showrunner Ira Parker in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the subject matter being less dense than ASOIAF serves the shorter season and runtimes well. They don’t feel like they need to stretch out the plot and let it drag on, and it can be a faithful representation of the source material.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode List

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on the series of novellas titled Tales of Dunk and Egg. The books are titled The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. The last of the bunch was published in 2010, with George R. R. Martin planning to continue the series in the future.
The novellas were also adapted into a series of graphic novels by the same name, but given that the HBO Max series consists of six, 30-40 minute episodes, the titles are going to be more specific to the events that are covered in each episode. Here’s the list of the episode names and their respective release dates.
- Episode 1: The Hedge Knight – January 18
- Episode 2: Hard Salt Beef – January 25
- Episode 3: The Squire – February 1
- Episode 4: Seven – February 8
- Episode 5: In the Name of the Mother – February 15
- Episode 6: The Morrow – February 22
While A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms only has one episode out now, fans of Westeros have plenty to look forward to until the end of February. After that, they’ll just have to wait until the next season of House of the Dragon.
