Overwatch 2 has a lot of variety when it comes to the playable characters on the roster. There are three roles – Tank, DPS, and Support, each which has their own selection of characters to choose from. Every playable character in Overwatch 2 has been organized below by their Role. In total, there are thirteen Tanks, twenty DPS, and twelve Supports in the game. New heroes tend to release every two to three seasons, meaning players get a handful of new additions to the roster each year.

When new heroes release, they also tend to first have a trial period where players are able to preview the character and playtest them over the duration of a weekend. These playtests usually occur about a week or two before the hero is set to go live in the following season, which helps to build hype.

Tanks

Tank Passive Ability: Reduces knockbacks and critical damage received. Less ultimate generated by healing and damage received. Increases base health in Role Queue game modes.
