In Pokemon GO, new species of monsters are often introduced to the game through new events. One such example is the High Zaptitude event in January 2026, which marks the Pokemon GO debut of both Wattrel and Kilowattrel. If you’re wondering how you can get these Pokemon in-game and if they can be obtained in shiny form, all relevant information has been included in the guide below.

How to Get Wattrel in Pokemon GO

In Pokemon GO, Wattrel is making its Pokemon GO debut through the High Zaptitude event. High Zaptitude begins on January 13, 2026, at 10 AM local time and will conclude on January 18 at 8 PM local time.

During High Zaptitude, Wattrel will be available as a general wild encounter and as a Field Research Task encounter. However, Wattrel will only be available in the wild after players complete the Level 2 Global Challenge. As it is only available for the first time through this event, capturing as many Wattrel as possible is a good approach.

After doing so, you can transfer extra copies to the Professor to accumulate more Candy and keep the strongest Wattrel in your collection. For this reason, you will want to ensure you bring along enough Poke Balls and Berries to help make each encounter end in a successful capture.

How to Get Kilowattrel in Pokemon GO

In Pokemon GO’s High Zaptitude event, Kilowattrel is not featured as an obtainable monster through any method. This means that for now, the only reliable way to get Kilowattrel is by first acquiring a Wattrel and then evolving it.

Wattrel can evolve into Kilowattrel in Pokemon GO with use of 50 Candy. Once you have acquired the Wattrel Candy, simply open the profile of that Pokemon and hit the evolve button, your Wattrel will now become the stronger, more fearsome Kilowattrel!

Can You Get Shiny Wattrel & Shiny Kilowattrel in Pokemon GO?

As of the High Zaptitude event, no Wattrel and Kilowattrel are not currently available as shinies in Pokemon GO. However, there is a strong possibility that the shiny forms of these Pokemon will make their way to the game eventually. This is because most of the time, Pokemon GO tends to release regular forms first, and then have the shiny form release in a separate event much further down the line.
