Heartopia is an adorable new free-to-play life sim game available on both PC and mobile platforms. However, despite many cozy game and life sim enthusiasts being excited for the January 7 release, a large portion of the community has only now realized that the game has not released on one of the most important and popular PC platforms – Steam!
If you’re wondering why Heartopia’s Steam release is lagging behind and when it will actually become available for download, this guide covers all of the information you’ll need.
When is Heartopia Coming to Steam?

On January 7, 2026, Heartopia successfully launched through the official game website (with the game downloadable through the TapTap client), as well as iOS and Android mobile app stores. However, when it comes to the Steam release, there is currently no confirmed release date for Heartopia on Steam.
The latest Steam update came from the dev team, announcing the arrival of the game on these other platforms. In addition to this, the post also mentions that the team is hard at work getting the game ready for this platform. Here’s what they had to say:
“As for the Steam version, we’re hard at work polishing every detail to ensure it meets your expectations. The team is fully focused on optimizing the PC experience, and we’ll keep you updated with the latest progress right here in the Steam community.”
What is TapTap? Explained

For now, players who are eager to dive into the game on PC will have to head over to Heartopia’s website and download it through TapTap. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this platform, you may be wondering what it is and if it is safe to run.
TapTap is a game platform/store much like that of Steam or Epic Games. However, TapTap specifically appears to focus on mobile games, letting fans play them on PC.
Heartopia can be safely downloaded and launched through the TapTap client to get yourself set up and ready to explore everything the game has to offer.
Will Save Progress Be Tranferred From TapTap Once Heartopia Releases on Steam?

Players who are worried about losing their save progress when it comes time to move their Heartopia gameplay from TapTap to Steam will not need to worry. It has been confirmed that gameplay progress will carry over, as players use an account assigned to an email or Google account to log in to the game.
As long as you are able to remember your login details, you’ll be able to continue gameplay across TapTap to Steam on PC, or even from PC to mobile, always playing Heartopia on the go!
Until further updates on the Steam launch are provided by the team, Heartopia players are limited to TapTap and mobile platforms. However, with the team hard at work prepping the game for Steam release, it can be expected that we’ll see some more updates soon.
