Sulfur is one of the trickiest ores to mine in StarRupture, which is understandable since it’s a mid-to-late game resource. While it isn’t considered a “rare” ore, mining it requires extra precautions. If you’re having a hard time obtaining it, don’t worry, this guide covers everything you need to know about getting Sulfur in StarRupture.

Where to Find Sulfur in StarRupture

Sulfur is actually easy to spot once you know what to look for. If you open your map, you’ll notice bright yellow areas, this is where Sulfur is located.

While exploring, you can identify Sulfur deposits by the yellow fumes covering the area. These fumes are corrosive, so avoid getting too close if you don’t have the proper gear yet.

The closest Sulfur deposit is directly east of your starting pod. Head past the Calcium deposit and continue until you reach the cliffs, where the ground starts to change color.

There are two Sulfur deposits here, with the far-right one being especially large. This area also contains other minerals, making it a great location for setting up a base.

How to Get & Use Sulfur Extractor in StarRupture

Since Sulfur is a later-phase resource, you can’t mine it using a normal Ore Excavator. Instead, you’ll need a Sulfur Extractor, which unlocks once you reach Level 9 trust with the Selenian Corporation.

After unlocking it, there’s one more important thing to keep in mind: you can’t place the extractor while Sulfur fumes are present. To place the machine, you’ll need to wait for a Rupture event. The firestorm’s heat will clear all the fumes until the planet’s temperature returns to normal.

This brief window is the only time you can place a Sulfur Extractor, so you’ll need to act quickly before the fumes return. It’s best to have your power source ready beforehand, so you only need to connect the extractor to power after the Rupture event.

By following these steps, you can safely place a Sulfur Extractor, collect Sulfur for late-game uses, and continue progressing efficiently.
