Calcium is one of the early-game ores you need to progress in StarRupture. You’ll reach a point where you need large amounts of Calcium, which is why it’s important to know where to find it. Luckily, everything you need to know about where to locate Calcium Ore and what to do with it has been explained in the guide below.

What is Calcium Used For in StarRupture?

Calcium is needed to unlock Level 3 of the Moon Energy Corporation research, which rewards you with a much-needed map. Not only that, but you also need 1,000 Calcium to unlock the Calcium Block recipe for the Smelter, so stocking up early is key. After that, Calcium is also required to craft Calcite Sheets and Blocks to further increase your Moon Energy Corporation research level.

How to Get Calcium Ore in StarRupture

When you first mine Meteorites in the tutorial, you might find some Calcium there, but that isn’t the main source of it. To reliably get Calcium, you need to find Calcium Ore deposits, which look like brownish, sand-colored rock ledges.

You won’t find Calcium deposits in your starting area, where Titanium and Wolfram are abundant. Instead, you’ll need to head to higher ground and look around. In the distance, you’ll notice brown-colored rock formations; those are what you’re looking for.

If you’ve unlocked the map upgrade, these deposits appear as large sandy patches on your map, making them much easier to locate.

Since the first Calcium deposit is quite far away and outside the reach of your initial base, you’ll need to build a second base. Make sure to bring a Meteorite Heart as the material for the new base.

Once the second base is established, simply build Ore Excavators on the Calcium Ore deposits and don’t forget to have power connections. Finally, use Rails to link them to a Smelter, Fabricator, or OCL, depending on your needs.

Quick Calcium from Surface Rocks

If you only need one or two Calcium tablets, try looking for small white rocks on the ground. Use your mining tool to get about 3–5 Calcium from each. It’s not much, but they’re useful if you need some urgently.

Now that you know where to mine Calcium Ore, you’ll have an abundance of it to help you progress further into the game, and you’ll need a lot of it. Make sure to stock it up in your storage for future use.
