Since the arrival of the Sidekicks in Fortnite, there has been some discussion about which of the pet back bling cosmetics will be included. Bonsey was the first Back Bling pet to be converted into a Sidekick, and now it is the turn of Kitsune.
How To Unlock Kitsune In Fortnite
You can get your hands on the Kitsune Sidekick for free if you already own the Kitsune Back Bling. This adorable Japanese-inspired pet sits in the seat backpack of your character, and can be ‘pet’ by other players.
If you were playing during Season X and bought the Battle Pass, you would have unlocked Katsune at Tier 28, with further styles unlocked in tiers 45 and 65.
Now, this mystical fox-like creature can be yours as a companion during fights, with its own styles, cosmetics, and emote to unlock. For those with the Katsune Back Bling, the Sidekick will appear in their inventories for free on January 3, 2025.
If you aren’t one of the OG players who unlocked Kitsune as Back Bling in 2019, the only way to get one is by purchasing it in the Item Shop. Kitsune Sidekick should be available to buy from the Item Shop starting from late January 3, 2025, and will cost 1,200 V-Bucks.
Once unlocked, you can take Kitsune with you, unlocking Sidekick Points by spending time with them in-game. These Sidekick points eventually unlock extra cosmetics and a special emote for your Sidekick.

- Kit (Kitten) from Chapter 2, Season 3
- Doggo Jr. from Season 9
- Lil’ Raptor from Chapter 2, Season 6

- Flopsticks from Season 7
No doubt there will be more Sidekicks added to the game as time goes on, with more of your favorite characters turned into cute little pets to join you in battle.
