Stranger Things Season 5 is now heading into the final stretch. With both Part 1 and Part 2 of the final season now having been released on Netflix, fans are eagerly awaiting the grand finale. The final episode of Stranger Things is set for the end of December 2025, where fans will witness the final showdown against Henry Creel/Vecna and discover how the endgame plays out.

Of course, there’s a lot left to happen yet, meaning Episode 8 is set to be the longest in the series yet. If you’re wondering how long the final episode of Stranger Things will be and when you can watch it, all relevant information has been included in the guide below.

How Long Will the Final Episode of Stranger Things Be & When Does it Release?

The final episode of Stranger Things is set to release on December 31, 2025. Much like previous episodes, the finale will be available to stream via Netflix from this date onwards.

However, fans should prepare to set up with plenty of snacks, drinks, cozy seating, or whatever else makes them feel all settled in, as Episode 8 is set to run for over two hours.

  • Episode 8: The Rightside Up: 2 Hours, 8 minutes

Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 8 is titled ‘The Right Side Up’. For anyone who has already finished watching part 2, this very well plays into the grand plan that the others came up with in Episode 7. With the faces of Hawkins now rallied together, they’ve hatched an idea that, if it pays off, will result in the Upside Down / The Abyss being destroyed and Hawkins finally being freed from Vecna’s reign.

However, there are a lot of questions left to explore, too. Will Vecna’s vessels, the twelve children (Including the newly beloved addition of Holly Wheeler), make it to the end? Is Hopper right to have distrust in Kali’s intentions? Will Kali and Eleven truly earn their freedom, or will they be forced to self-sacrifice to ensure the cycle never continues? Will we come face to face with the Mindflayer itself?

And most importantly…who may actually perish in the final fight? It has been hinted for a long time now that not all characters may make it to the end of Stranger Things. This left fans quite puzzled after Part 2 ended yet again with no character deaths occurring, yet. Specifically, Nancy and Jonathan seemed like they would meet a doomed fate, only to miraculously survive by what seems to be nothing other than pure luck.

Stranger Things fans will simply have to wait until December 31 to discover how the final showdown plays out. After all, nobody can know for sure what’s to come or what unexpected curveballs may be thrown into the mix. If there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that fans are expecting one hell of a sendoff. Let’s hope the show manages to deliver!
