Epic Games has once again turned Fortnite’s annual Winterfest into a holiday giveaway engine, with 14 free cosmetics available during the 2025 event. Among the offerings are two full character skins (A frozen crash dummy and a festive man-hamster) both obtainable through the Winterfest Cabin by simply logging in and opening daily presents.
Below is how the system works and when each skin unlocks.
How Fortnite Winterfest 2025 Works

Winterfest 2025 brings back the familiar cabin setup, where players can open one free present per day. Unlike previous years, you can’t catch up by opening two presents the next day. This year you’ll have to login at least 14 days between Dec 18 and Jan 5 to claim all presents (with a new present available after 9 AM ET each day).
The 14 gifts include pickaxes, back blings, musical instruments, a glider, sprays and emotes, alongside the two featured skins. Most presents can be opened in any order, with two notable exceptions.
How to Unlock the Glacial Dummy Skin

Glacial Dummy is tied to the first major progression milestone. Players must open seven other Winterfest presents before the skin becomes available. For those logging in daily from the start of the event, Glacial Dummy unlocks on Christmas Day, accessible via the large present positioned at the back-left of the cabin.
How to Unlock the Cheeks Skin

Cheeks, the hamster-themed skin, is the final reward of Winterfest 2025. It unlocks only after every other present in the cabin has been opened. Players who do not miss a single day will be able to claim Cheeks on New Year’s Eve, everyone else will be able to keep claiming up to Jan 4.
What else is new this Winterfest?

Between daily cabin rewards, crossover-heavy item shop drops, returning winter weapons and novelty additions like the Back to the Future time machine and Yule Trooper boss, Epic is leaning hard into variety rather than a single headline feature. The catch, as ever, is time: with no makeup days for free gifts and the event ending Jan. 5, Winterfest once again rewards players who log in consistently — and punishes those who don’t.
