From the ex-BioWare developers, a new trailer for the long-anticipated game, EXODUS, has dropped at The Game Awards 2025. Since the first cinematic reveal trailer in 2023, this new look highlights the vibrant storytelling that sci-fi and action-adventure RPG fans are looking forward to in 2027.
Heading into the unknown
EXODUS is a sci-fi action-adventure RPG from Wizards of the Coast and Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by award-winning RPG veterans behind Mass Effect, Baldur’s Gate, and STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic.
Set in a distant future within the Omega Centauri cluster, humanity has abandoned Earth to find a new home. Players take the role of Jun, a customizable hero who’s become humanity’s last hope against the Celestials.
It’s Jun’s mission to recover alien technology while travelling at the edge of lightspeed. Balancing combat and survival, EXODUS is also a choice-driven narrative adventure with a variety of story path outcomes to witness.
The game brings immediate comparisons to major titles with in-depth sci-fi worldbuilding, such as The Expanse and Mass Effect. But at the same time, it hopes to become fun and accessible to a wide range of gamers.

The new trailer opens up with the game’s protagonist, Jun, traversing the galaxy with their allies and encountering a variety of human and alien-like factions and creatures. Jun had tired of seeing humanity settling for less, and he aims to change humankind’s destiny. This has led him and his crew to undertake an Interstellar-like adventure, challenging the concepts of time to save humanity’s future, even making some tough sacrifices along the way.
On the trailer description, players can find a brief synopsis giving context of what to expect from the game:
“You are Jun Aslan. Once a lowly salvager, now humanity’s last hope against the Celestials.
You were never meant to live and die scraping through wreckage. The gift inside you makes you the only one who can rise to face what’s coming. Step forward, seize your destiny, and lead an interstellar crew across a vast galaxy alive with wonder and danger. To save your homeworld, you must confront the Celestials—humanity’s evolution 40,000 years in the future—and steal their technology that could give your world a fighting chance.
