Of the many games announced at The Game Awards 2025, we got a first look at the first direct sequel to Remedy’s Control. Control Resonant is set to release sometime in 2026, and this time, we’re not playing as Jesse Fayden, but instead, her brother Dylan.

What is Control Resonant?

In Control Resonant, the Hiss invasion has broken out of the Oldest House, so you will be fighting them in the streets of Manhattan, but reality is shifted. Like inside, reality as you know it is being twisted in the world. It appears that combat in this game may be more focused on melee than shooting, but it will be interesting to see just how much Dylan’s powers differ from Jesse’s.

Take a look at the official announcement trailer below:

In a press release, creative director Mikael Kaurinen said the following:

“Control Resonant pushes our paranatural action RPG series into an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence.”

While we played as Jesse in the previous game, she is not the focus this time around. The trailer shows (what we expect to be) her going to stab Dylan in his sleep, but knowing Remedy, this could be a dream sequence for Dylan or some other kind of fake-out.

Dylan’s weapon, which is connected to the service weapon in the first game, says that Jesse has gone rogue, so things may be switched from the first game, and she could potentially be the main antagonist this time, but that is just speculation.

Following the disappointment of FBC: Firebreak, there are going to be a lot of people looking forward to Control Resonant. The first game was released in 2019 and started getting mixed in with the Alan Wake 2 side of the universe, leading to where we are now. It looks like this sequel will be taking quite a few things in a new direction, so it will be interesting to learn more as we head into 2026.
