Almost three months out from the release of Borderlands 4, and we’re already starting to see the extra content spring up. This new addition to the world of Kairos is the first raid boss of the game, Bloomreaper the Invincible. Though these are always a tricky fight, the challenge starts with trying to find these things in the first place.
As you might expect, you’ll need to have beaten the campaign first. Fortunately, it will scale in level to your party, so you don’t need to be level 50 to take it on. However, if you’re looking for the best gear to tackle UVHM (or unlock further levels), then being at the level cap can’t hurt.
Where to Find Bloomreaper the Invincible in Borderlands 4
As said, you will first need to have beaten the story to even get a shot at the boss. With that done, every single Faction Town location in the game will offer the related quest, The Wrath of Bloomreaper. This is all your preference, but the best place to go is The Launchpad, just because it’s open and easy to navigate.

You can pick up the quest from the contracts board, which is where I assume all of these quests will go once more raid bosses are added. As it stands, it seems rather empty with only the Bloomreaper quest up there.

When you collect the quest, you’ll enter dialogue with Claptrap, who will explain what a raid boss is and direct you on where to go. In this instance, you’ll want to head to the southeast corner of the Tonnage Peel area in Cascadia Burn.

Following the quest marker will take you to a transport gate for a new area called The Bloom. Heading inside will pop up a Fast Travel Station so you never have to make the long trek back here, same as with the game’s vaults.
The area is a linear path, but it will still be a little bit of a trek to get to the boss area. There are enemies here, but you can easily skirt around them as you make your way to the end.
After a lengthy bit of gliding, you’ll find yourself looking at a weirdly overgrown cave entrance, and a very Borderlands boss cutscene will play. Once it ends, feel free to make your way to Bloomreaper, and the fight will begin.
How to Beat Bloomreaper the Invincible Raid Boss

The first chunk of the Bloomreaper fight will involve you destroying these six crystals the same way as you do with Vile enemies.
Make sure you also destroy the Vile Ordonite orbs that fly off of the destroyed crystals, or they will regenerate.

With all the crystals destroyed, Bloomreaper will become vulnerable to damage and drop down to the other platforms. The main one will be blocked off, so you’re forced to play ring around the rosie while Bloomreaper hops around the lower platforms.
As long as you keep some distance, this shouldn’t be all that bad, but there is a laser attack that does a distressing amount of knockback that you’ll want to dodge or block with the middle stalk (root?).
Once you’ve done enough damage, Bloomreaper will once again go invulnerable. As soon as the invulnerability period ends, Bloomreaper will shake off a massive amount of pollen and cloud the whole arena, killing your visibility.
At this time, it is best to keep to the main platform and be aware of the closest grapple point in case you get knocked off. The lack of sightlines will leave you vulnerable, but as long as you keep track of Bloomreaper, it shouldn’t be too hard.
The toughest part of the fight was the first bit, because you have nowhere else to go and you’re besieged by some awful knockback. Bring something with a high fire rate that packs a decent punch. My go-to was a Madlad with CoV magazine and SMG/Shotgun selector. It was fantastic at killing the additional monsters and those crystals.
Possible Bloomreaper the Invincible Loot Drops & Rewards
Annoyingly, certain drops are locked behind both UVHM, and you’re under a bit of a time constraint to beat the boss to even get them. The good news is that this only applies to the class mods. The other items are possible drops regardless, but UVHM (and the best time score) can make the sniper rifle a guaranteed drop.
- Mantra – Maliwan Shotgun
- Jett-Setter – Ripper Heavy Weapon Ordinance
- Rainmaker – Ripper Sniper Rifle
- Urchin – Tediore Grenade
- Undershield – Vladof Armor Shield
The new content that brought in Bloomreaper also included a new level of UVHM, taking it up to six. Getting to six requires beating Bloomreaper on UVHM5, though, so that might take some doing.
We’ll keep on trucking when it comes to figuring out this raid boss, so we’ll be sure to update this guide if we come up with any better strategies.
