The Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie is here, following up on the massive success and fan celebration that the original movie saw in 2023. As expected, this movie focuses on the original Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria location that was the focus of the second game in the series. If you watched the movie and stuck around to see the post-credit scene (and hear a special message), you might have a good idea of what is coming in the future. If not, here is an explanation of what happens at the end of the movie.

What Happens in the FNAF 2 Movie Post-Credit Scenes?

The post-credit scene in the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie returns to the closed-down pizzeria location that was the main focus of the first movie. Two men rush inside with a dolly, talking about gathering authentic items from the place before it is demolished. It is interesting that this franchise location is being taken down, but the original location is still standing.
The reason they are gathering items is that a new haunted house is being made to score big on all of the talk about the animatronics killing people. With the Faz Fest ending, and presumably people learning about the toy animatronics now killing the robotics teacher and threatening to kill parents, someone wants to double down on the horror aspect of their new attraction.
When the group goes back into a secret room, they find an abandoned animatronic, noting that it smells terrible. They put some wrapping on it, getting it ready to move to the new haunted house. The camera turns to show the golden Bonnie suit, which is quite broken down. Of course, we know that this suit has William Afton inside, who presumably died a year ago in the first movie after the springlocks in the suit malfunctioned. Of course, with Five Nights at Freddy’s, whenever a dying person is associated with an animatronic, their soul lives on in that suit, plus the ghost children in the first movie were keeping him trapped. Now that they have moved on, you see him start to live up to his final words before death: “I always come back.”
What Was That Message About?

While there was only one post-credit scene in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, people who sat around longer after that scene got to hear a voice recording from Henry Emily, who was William Afton’s partner and the father of Charlotte. He essentially warns Mike that the Marionette is still after him, which we already knew, but he says he can track the other animatronics, since he has some leftover gear for them. The message ends abruptly, presumably signaling that Charlotte, who has possessed Vanessa, started attacking him.
How Does This Set Up the FNAF 3 Movie?

With Afton’s decaying body now headed to a new haunted house, this whole scene is a huge tease that the third Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is going to revolve around the Fazbear’s Frights haunted attraction, which is the setting for the third game. In that game, the security guard is constantly being hunted down by Springtrap (Afton).
As of this writing, we don’t know how William Afton’s children, Michael and Vanessa, will play into this movie. Charlotte in Vanessa’s body has a ton of rage at all parents, but we’re not quite sure she would willingly work alongside the person who killed her at the beginning of the movie. That said, there is a chance that Vanessa, in this new state, could put on the Vanny suit from Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.
When it comes to Michael, he seems completely different from the games. In the movie, he is looking to continue the work his father did, killing children instead of looking to shut the Fazbear animatronics and locations down. In the games, he plays a major role in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location, which features Circus Baby, who was shown in Vanessa’s dream sequence about her dad, an obvious hint for the future. Henry Emily could also have been referring to the sister location in his message, potentially setting up the third movie sharing space between both that and the haunted attraction.

Going into the third movie, there are three main antagonists here: William Afton in the Springtrap suit, Charlotte Emily in Vanessa’s body, and Michael Afton, who has been grabbed by the group after trying to run away. Maybe all three will come back together and make big problems for Mike and Abby, or maybe they continue to work independently of each other.
