What You Need To Unlock The True Ending
Getting the true ending isn’t too complicated, but you’ll need to play through Road Trip mode twice. On your first run, you’ll get the normal ending no matter what. That’s just how the game works.
For the true ending, you need to start the New Game Plus, and collect all 22 machines in Road Trip mode. Since these machines are scattered across different branching paths, you can only grab them all during New Game Plus.
When you’re in New Game Plus, the game actually marks which paths have machines you haven’t collected yet. Look for the Warp Star shape with an exclamation point on the branching paths. This makes it way easier to track down what you’re missing.
What Happens In The True Ending

Once you’ve collected all 22 machines and completed stage 11 again, you’ll unlock a secret 12th chapter called “Journey’s End”. This is where things get really intense.
In this final chapter, you’ll see all the machines get vaporized as Gigantes is restored. Noir Dedede shows up and summons two legendary machines that survived. You pick one and team up with Noir Dedede to battle Gigantes. After the fight, Noir Dedede sacrifices himself to win.
Then Leo appears, this is the new legendary machine that looks like a menacing lion with blue and yellow colored mane. Leo carries you through a series of tough boss fights against Robo Dedede, Zero Two, Nightmare, Marx, and Galactic Nova.
