A new four-player cooperative shooter from the creator of Left 4 Dead is on its way to the PlayStation 5 and PC, being made by Bad Robot Games. No other details on the game have been given as of now.
Bad Robot Games is Creating a New Co-Op Game
Sony published the press release announcing the new game, which will be directed by Mike Booth, who is the creator and lead designer of the original Left 4 Dead. After founding Turtle Rock Studios, he left the studio in 2012, well before Evolve was released, and spent some time in the 2010s making VR games for Meta, but has been part of Bad Robot Games since 2020.
Bad Robot Games CEO Anna Sweet said the following:
“With the support of PlayStation, we hope to deliver a bold, innovative experience that is truly special for players. I could not be more excited that Mike Booth is at the creative helm, crafting a cooperative adventure that will lead to unforgettable moments with friends.”

Bad Robot Games is a small, relatively new division of Bad Robot, a media company founded by JJ Abrams.
This upcoming shooter will be the first game that Bad Robot Games dedicates its time to as a main developer. To this point, the team has largely been a support studio, and it is fully remote.
What to Expect From this New Game

Unfortunately, we know next to nothing about this new PlayStation cooperative shooter game. Not even a title was given, and there’s no indication of a planned release year. As of now, don’t expect to see it any time soon, but it shouldn’t be something that takes forever to make.
When it comes to guessing what the game will be styled like, the obvious comparison that people are going to jump to is Left 4 Dead. It is very possible that Booth would want to visit a world decimated by zombies again.
He is also credited with designing the AI director from Left 4 Dead, which really helped that game stand apart by changing how zombies behaved and the placement of items. It would be interesting to see if he would like to revisit that kind of system again and see how it could be improved and tweaked in 2025, or if it would just be essentially what Back 4 Blood provided a few years ago.
