Pokemon Legends: Z-A has continued to offer content for players to enjoy between launch and the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC. This has come in the form of additional missions to complete, Mystery Gift freebies, and the online battling systems, letting players go head-to-head and work their way up the ranks. The most recent addition to the game is none other than Mewtwo, and the two Mega Evolution stones, Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y, which became available on December 2nd, 2025.

How to Get Mewtwo & its Mega Evolution Stones in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Mewtwo and both of its Mega Stones (Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y) have become available in Pokemon Legends: Z-A as of December 2nd, 2025.
Players can obtain the Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y Mega Evolution Stones through the Mystery Gift function. Instructions for how to redeem Mystery Gifts in-game have been included further below.
- Press the X button on your Joy-Con or Controller to open the menu screen.
- Select Link Play from the menu.
- Select Mystery Gift.
- Select Get via Internet or Get With Code/Password.
- For the get via Internet option, simply choose the Mystery Gift you’d like to gain from the menu.
- For the Get With Code/Password option, enter your serial code and then select your Mystery Gift.
In the case of the Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y Stones, they should be obtainable under the ‘get via internet’ option within the Mystery Gift function.
After obtaining the Mega Stone for Mewtwo via Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mystery Gift function, players will then be able to complete Mewtwo’s Extra Side Mission, a new objective that will appear in-game. However, it is important to note that the mission takes place within quite a late area in terms of gameplay progress (similar to the previous Diancie Side Mission), so players may very well need to have beaten the main game to access this mission.
After completing Mewtwo’s Extra Side Mission, it has been stated that players will be able to add Mewtwo to their team. This indicates that Mewtwo will either be capture-able as part of this mission, or perhaps given out to players as a reward once they have completed the tasks.
