A New Commerce Hub Inside Discord

Marvel Rivals has officially launched its new Discord Shop integration, not only allowing players to shop for skins from their Discord, but to gift items to friends too.
The feature is now live for users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Oceania, with more regions in the works.
Through the shop, fans can purchase costumes, emotes, emojis, MVP poses, nameplates and sprays in the game’s official Discord server. Items appear in players’ Marvel Rivals accounts immediately once their game and Discord profiles are linked.
Social Features and Gifting

The shop also introduces several social-driven tools, including wishlists that can be viewed on user profiles. Players can check what cosmetics their friends are hoping for and send gifts directly through Discord DMs.
Also, you don’t even have to play Marvel Rivals to send gifts, so you can surprise a friend for Christmas if you know what they want.
Early Rollout and Platform Notes
All this comes with a big asterisk.

Despite cross-progression just having released, the Discord Shop supports PC redemption only. It’s temporary according to the devs, but by the way they worded it, we’ll likely only see updates if this first rollout does well. Transactions operate in U.S. dollars across all supported regions.
With the rollout, Marvel Rivals becomes one of the first major live-service titles to integrate Discord’s new in-app purchasing system, and another step towards Discord becoming a powerful gaming eco-system. Is this the next step towards Discord becoming an online game store like Steam or Epic? We’ll have to wait and see.
